It is a Agfa proprietary formula based on iso-ascorbic acid (instead of hydroquinone).

The newly reorganized Agfa does not have their Material Safety Data Sheets on their website.

If you are looking for "mix it yourself" ascorbic acid based formulas, take a look at

Ryuji Suzuki's DS-14 and DS-15 developers:

http://silvergrain.org/Photo-Tech/print-dev-recommend.html

Also, take a look in the APUG Chemistry Recipes.

Another "mix it yourself" ascorbic acid paper developer is E72, which is an ascorbic acid variant of D72/Dektol. Here's one URL with the formula:

http://www.stanford.edu/~cpatton/yingui/e72.htm

I believe I've seen references to it being possible to substitute metol for the phenidone, but you need ten times as much metol. D72 actually uses metol, FWIW.

Many of Patrick Gainer's formulas can also be used for paper. He covers this in one of his early articles:

http://unblinkingeye.com/Articles/VitC/vitc.html

Note that I've not (yet) tried any of these, so I'm not endorsing them or saying they're better than DS-14 or DS-15. I'm just tossing them out as alternatives.

Neutol Plus puzzles me. I've found it tough to make an ascorbic acid or ascorbate paper developer that gives a full d-max on MGIV without adding lye. Carbonate just doesn't seem to do it.
