So, I decided to clean out my entire darkroom and photo storage closet. Now that I have identified things I no longer want, need, use, etc…..

How should I go about trying to find a home for them? Should list then in one large FS post? Or do each one individually?

I have lenses, cameras, paper, easels, trays, etc like probably 50 or so items. Ebay will let me sell 6 at a time.

I was thinking of making a master list and putting here on APUG FS giving “request” for a price and 1 photo. Allowing those who want more info/ pic.s to contact me for them. and then let people make offers? Is this wrong?

Or should I put 50 different entries in FS?

Thanks for your suggestions

An itemized list on here with a hopeful-but-not-overly-ambitious desired price for every item with a bit of description of each item and more information available on request (via private message, to keep the post uncluttered. You then edit the list as things sell.

thanks Don, I was hoping for validation of exactly what I (you) am/are thinking. Many of these items I am just looking for a home, however there are a few (3) items that are quite nice in which i may be more inclined to sit on. for the other 47 items I will be taking offers. I appreciate your two cents! I suppose I will have to get things organized first.

I have used Craigslist successfully to list a Beseler 4x5 enlarger setup locally, since shipping enlargers can be so difficult to do inexpensively, as well as posting a lot of drkroom stuff here on Photrio

Craig's list and Photrio's Classified for starters. Both are free.

It may make more sense to break Classified listings up into manageable chunks - say 3-5 different listings.
Smaller listings permit you to make better use of illustrative photos.
Be sure to tell people in each listing that you have other listings for other items. As things sell, mark them sold but don't delete them from the listing.
If possible, list prices, even if you qualify that with "or best offer".

I'd really avoid that situation, unless you just want to list them on ebay starting at 99 cents.

I'm sure things are better here than Facebook, though. A couple of years ago, you could list stuff on Facebook Marketplace and expect a decent response. Now, you list something, you get 100 messages asking if it's available (they never send another message, whether or not you say it is available), you get 75 messages asking if you'd sell it for less than half what you posted, you get 50 messages from people saying they'll buy it and asking your address (they never send another message even if you say you'll wait in the driveway). Eventually, you take whatever you were going to sell out into the back yard and burn it in a barrel just for some little bit of satisfaction.

Ebay listing at .99 usually does the trick. Or what I'd prefer myself these days is to list it here and then put a really good price on it. Usually that makes the sale fast and the buyer is happy they got a good deal so there is no after the sale grief. I'd just make a list with a brief statement of condition and if there are any issues. Let it go from there. One listing here will save you a huge amount of time. Only take paypal too so the shipping is simple.

Thanks to all who have responded. um.... I am now resigned to the fact it will take time to move my equipment I am not using. Ebay does not work for me because I haven't sold enough to have an unlimited price or unlimited quanity of things on the bay. I can only have 6 items at a time. I will take serious, Sirius Glass by using craigslist, and photrio, LLF and the like. I like your idea Matt of listing in groups. I have 5 enlarging lenses I do not use, I guess that could be one entry, so on and so forth. thanks FOCUS is coming on strategy.

I did three things:
1) Put items I might someday want in a box in storage
2) Listed items I will never someday want here for free
3) Took a box of lenses I will never someday want to Photorama and traded for a camera.

Another excellent point, thanks

Then once you sell the stuff off, it will be time to replace every item. :whistling: BTDT
