I've been trying to come up with an affordable solution for a high-quality darkroom sink without spending many hundreds on professional ones. I'm not up to building a DIY lined wooden one - I want something a little more slick with a real engineered drain. Ideally, the sink would be desk width (30 inches) and at least 5 foot long (60 inches) and be nicely finished. I also don't want to pay shipping costs, and would like the sink to be under $150 USD. Has anyone used something like this? I am consider it as a fitting solution. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Aquatic-...n-Shower-Base-in-White-6030CPANL-AW/203910260

Mike

I'm sure it would work. Note that the shower drain is (I think) larger diameter than a typical sink drain, so you might need to reduce it down. Only that front edge will be finished. 30" wide is fine for trays, but you might find it a stretch to reach over the sink to the wall behind.

(Your description sounds a bit like the specs a product manufacturer will supply to architects - designed to fit the product they're selling. )

I'll vouch for Craigslist. Found a 9ft sink there, quite affordable. Still using it after all these years. Thanks, Bill!

In my hunting and gathering, I think that one came out of either Boulder or Denver. Patience is important. Bill Barber

A few weeks ago there was a 6 foot stainless sink in the local CL for $75.00

As for the shower pan, it would probably need some additional support, but otherwise it might be a good solution.

I would need 2 sinks for 4 16 X 20 trays, and a deep sink for other tasks, by the time you add up all the cost, base, I think the floor of shower will not stand up without full support under it and a say a mop sink on the end you are the cost of good used sink.
