I have seen at various places mention of an up and coming Scala reversal kit from Adox. It is even mentioned at Fotoimpex's scala 50 product page.

I would like to ask, what is the current status? When is it coming to market? Is there going to be a small version, like tetenal's "magic box" series?

I would jump on this like a dog onto a bone!

How does it differ from the Foma reversal developing kit? Is it suitable for all B&W films on a clear base?

Well, Mirko has since about a year only posted once. He seems to prefer to remain silent and let his new "voice" speak about Adox and other things...

Our new SCALA reversal kit is technically finished - R&D - for several months now. Original market introduction was planned for spring. But then the Covid-19 crisis and the lockdown happened, and our shipment from our supplier of the packagings was delayed for several months. When it finally arrived, we've detected some QC issues with the packaging. It was quite not as ordered and not our quality standard. We are waiting now for the new, improved production and shipment.
We hope for a market introduction still in 2020.

The new SCALA reversal kit will offer a new, very innovative chemical approach. It is much more user and environmentally friendly than all other BW reversal kits so far.
It is of course optimized for our ADOX SCALA BW reversal films. It works perfectly with them. Our SCALA film users are expecting that.
But it can also be used with some other films.

Well we have had quite a lot of posts recently from the ADOX Team but I haven't noticed anything on an Adox Scala kit. Yes in the past it did seem to be Mirko who made announcements and was the "face" of ADOX but maybe that aspect of his role is now part of the role of the ADOXTeam who were established to free Mirko for other things

As there are presumably several now in the team which is why they are called a team then it may be that a watching brief is now kept at Photrio more or less constantly and if so a response here on Photrio is likely, I'd have thought.

Just as a comparsion with Ilford if I may now. In former times an executive from Ilford took on the role that I assume the ADOX Team now assumes for ADOX and it is useful to have such a direct link. In the past Simon Galley was a "one-man band" for Ilford and while he did a great job he was a little stretched so a team from ADOX is an improvement in terms of coverage

In the past, Adox products have showed up in Freestyle, B&H, and Adorama some time after they were available from FotoImpex, so it seems a good likelihood that sometime next year you'll be able to order the Scala kit from an American E-tailer.

2 questions arose: In what way does it differ from all other BW reversal kits and what other films can benefit from it?

This is good news, can't wait to drop by the store before the new year and pick one up! Hope you somehow manage to also offer it in small quantities for low volume shooters.

We intend to offer the new kit worldwide via our established distribution partners, including the US market.
The main chemical innovation is the new bleach process, which is much more user and environmentally friendly than currently used options.
We will first introduce one packaging, and see how the demand develops.
That is what we can reveal at the moment. Further details will be published at the market introduction.

@Team ADOX: what are the non-Adox films for which the new reversal kit is known to give good results?

Please wait for the market introduction. Our main focus has been of course that the new chemistry will work best with our ADOX SCALA films.
We are a very small company with limited personal resources. It is impossible to test all BW films on the market. But we are working on some further films which are suitable.

@twelvetone12 Seems like a test with Fomapan 100R might be in order -- that's available in Double 8 and Double Super 8, as well as 16mm single or double perf, and since it's intended for reversal, it's on a clear base. Might make an interesting comparison between the Scala kit and the Foma kit.

You can perhaps enlist some of us as your beta testers. Send me your kit and I'll test it on a few films of my choice.

Ah yes this is a good idea! Even if I'm not super fond of FomapanR 100 it would still be quite interesting.

Well, if nothing else, it would let you give a report on how well the new bleach process works and such.

Thanks for your offer. We appreciate it. But this is not as easy as it seems at first sight: Testing films and chemicals in such a good and reliable way that the results can be published in data sheets for customers is not easy and needs lots of experience and expertise. Therefore we need to know the testers personally and for years, as we have absolutely to know the quality of their work. Because we as a company are responsible for the product and potential recommendations for further non-ADOX films.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Not only Foma, but how about using kit for Super8 Kodak TX? If kit contained enough chemicals for processing 16mm, that would be great.

Given the kit is aimed at 35mm stills, it's likely to be in the one liter class, for use with inversion tank ("hand tanks"). I'm guessing, of course, but AFAIK Scala has historically been more about 35mm than any other format.
