Hi,

I have just bought some Adox 5x4 orthochromatic film (Asa 25). Can anyone give me some advice as how to use and get the best out of this film (eg - exposing & developing!).

Thanks, Marcus

As it is orthochromatic, it would be safe to develop in red light. Start out with the Efke 25 sheet film times for your developer of choice and go from there.

Thanks for your replies!

Another question, - do I need to use any filters with this film, or just shoot as normal without?

Marcus

You can use some colored filters, although I don't know if the result will be something you want. In any case, Photoshop's channel mixer can probably give a rough simulation of what you'll get.

Yes, I know, it's an analog forum, but why waste film to see if you like the result or not?

I have shot a fair amount of it in 120

Enlargements to 8X10 look like contact prints. That film is insanely sharp.

This was shot on 120 Ortho at ASA 16:

Shoot it at ASA 16, process it in Pyro Rollo for 5 mins, constant agitation in a steel Nikkor tank. The most incredible negs you have ever seen.

Works great in slightly lower than normal contrast lighting.

Far sharper and finer grain (no grain!) than Rollei 25 Pan which I have tested extensively in Pyro.
