Mirko stated in the past that he is opposed to the Kickstarter idea. However this issue here ist not even such project. But maybe the Kickstarter infrastructure could be used for a pre-paid production. Then still it may be questioned whether Kickstarter yield any benefit over Adox dealing themselves with pre-payment.
Also it is not clear whether Mirco is open to a pre-paid production at all. So far it seems to me he is striving for productions running continously so to say.

I think this is not the same, he has a proven product, they just need startup cost to de-risk the paper business, a pre paid run completely removes risk and proves actual need. If Adox can’t raise the money from us, simply refund, make us cover the small refund fee and move on from there.

modern times need new business models.

Mirko has made statements on the economics of the photochemical industry as such and his own manufacture for quite some years. So we can assume that he considered pre-paid production. Thus my remark above.

And pre-paid production is no new concept. It is at least 400 years old.

Hi, I don’t like to assume anything, maybe he hasn’t. And I’m certainly aware of the pre-paying practice as a concept, I don’t think it has been done before in our space like this, except for Cinestill, with great success. All I want is the paper, that is all

The Harman ULF conversions were pre-order, thus not pre-paid and, and also no actual production.

If ADOX has unused production capacity that they can access with existing staffing and equipment resources, than a pre-pay model may make sense for them.
If they need to add either staff or equipment in order to make the product, even pre-paid production may stress their capabilities.

Isn't the next stage, haliderollei , to put your idea and ways round possible problems directly to Mirko I can't see how a debate with fellow members is going to do this. Eventually this thread will simply die as people just lose interest.

I still have Forte PWT in the freezer and an unopened box of 20x24 that won't fit. It's an amazing paper, stunning. However it can be challenging. The spilt toning that makes it so appealing could be considered a defect, I don't think that way but it's difficult to manage. The dry down density gain is huge, I would guess 1/2 to 1 stop. Again nothing too difficult and very manageable.

I would suggest people who long for t h e PWT that they used in the past try Fomatone. I have been stuck on Fomatone for several years now and I've never used a finer warmtone fiber paper. I would like to see Kodak Ektalure again, but not enough of a market. Adox is making Lupex, which is filling the Adox and Fomalux niche, which is a very important product. Go team Lupex! Peace!

The OP not by coincidence put paper in capital letters in the thread title. From this one can deduce that he is aware of the existence of this PW emulsion on offer.

Thanks for the reply. It at least starts the "ball rolling" as they say.

Let us know how you get on

Haliderollei, were you able to get in touch with Mirko and if so what was his response. I ask because I note that you are having problems with Ilford films so was hoping that you may have some better news for Mirko at ADOX

Hi, I’ll be in the touch hopefully today [with Adox about accepting a pre-paid Polywarmtone production by inscription].

You started this thread with a claim/proposal but leave us uninformed.

Maybe he has lost interest. He hasn't visited for 8 days now, looking at his profile . If he has not lost interest then I am still interested in his correspondence with Mirko and what it's outcome was

Hi, I don't owe anyone anything, as you may know, the economy is getting hyperinflated; I different priorities at the moment, such as trying to keep my head afloat during these strange times. I'll keep everybody up to date when I know more, thank you.

OK and thanks. Can we assume that to-date you have been unable to correspond with Mirko but when your other priorities you mention allow you to do so you will let us know the outcome of that correspondence ?

I agree with Adox. There's not sufficient demand to support another warmtone fiber paper. Fomatone and Ilford Warmtone papers are amazing. I still have good Forte PWT paper, great stuff. I would rather see the current manufacturers stay healthy. If Adox can come up with a way to bring down the cost that would be great. Otherwise :errm:

Well, it was their first project of a self produced paper and they put quite an effort into it. So in the past they saw a market for it.

Are there any news about the availability of MCC? The latest information on adox.de is:

"Update 15.9.2021: We sucessfully coated 700m2 in Switzerland. This “first flush” will be released in a special box soon."

A fresh update of when we can expect the paper to be available again would be nice. I'm on my last box now.

I've mailed them about this; never seen the paper pop up at fotoimpex.

The same with film. Some people hailed a certain b&w film for having several halide layers, whereas other films yielded similar results with just one layer.
