Due to the requests of some photrio members, we have now added 4x5" format to our portfolio of ADOX LUPEX formats:

https://www.fotoimpex.com/photopape...ral-gloss-102x127-cm-4x5-inch-100-sheets.html

For us as a manufacturer this is also a market test: Will the demand be sufficient and sustainable enough to make the production economically possible in the mid and long term? If yes we can keep it, if not we will have to stop it.
So for all who have asked for it: It is now up to you to support your requests by actually buying the product regularly. Then we will be able to offer this format to you in the long term.

Makes me want go look into 4x5.
Great initiative! I hope those who asked for it will show their support.

urgh needs 400 sheet order to ship to UK... (not Adox's fault I know... I had no idea the law was so ridiculous)

Oh nice that's awesome!!! Will Freestyle here in the US be carrying it perhaps?

Well, you have to ask Freestyle.
All of our distributors are of course totally free and independent in their decisions about which ADOX products they want to offer to their customers.

Ah fair enough I'll reach out to them. I actually prefer using FotoImpex but I'm still quite salty DHL lost my precious limited edition Slivermax (along with the 10 sheet 8x10 Lupex paper I had planned on testing) and using a US distributor might be a bit more reliable. I'll try to get my hands on it one way or another, so very cool to see ya'll were able to introduce something like this in such a short period of time! Very much looking forward to trying it out!

I had 12 500mL bottles of Adox Rodinal on order with Freestyle until today. It's been on backorder for weeks. I got in touch with FS last week, they gave me a July ship date. Today I got an email, new date end of August. I canceled, now I'm wondering if I should have left it on order??? The huge mess in shipping is in play. I still have a couple full 500mL bottles.
I should have had Joe Biden smuggle some back from Geneva.

I sent my 3D printed parts from here in Texas, USA up to Canada. It's definitely slower than it was, but I've found it reliable. I have had issues ordering from FotoImpex during the pandemic and it mostly stems from DHL more than anything. Not sure how it would be to Canada though. DHL has given me trouble beyond Fotoimpex as well :/ I will say sometimes it's FAST! So it's not all bad and adjust your compass as this is my specific experiences in the US.

As I recall Adox/FI are looking at another shipping method which will be great! Even if I have to pay a bit more, if it means I can get my hands on some lovely Adox films and papers I'm fine with it! I want to test out Lupex myself!

I had similar concerns six years ago when ordering MCP directly from Fotoimpex. After receiving the paper, there were troubling patterns on prints, so I asked about them in this thread:

A reply from Ron Mowery assured me that X-ray damage to papers was extremely unlikely, and that the image I posted was actually of coating ripples. In the case of Lupex (which I also ordered direct from Fotoimpex several years ago and which arrived in fine condition), its vastly lower sensitivity would make it even less susceptible to X-rays.

Michael. have you ever printed on silver chloride paper before ?
John

I've ordered several films from FI (again do the US notably), including CHS ii (sheets and roll), Rollei IR 400, HR50, Silvermax. They were all great! Likewise I bought a few boxes of the stunningly gorgeous MCC-110 (miss you....) and they were also great (both in terms of being great film and paper but also not having any discernible x-ray for or anything like that)

Apart from contact printing, is this paper good for paper negatives and reversal processing? Has anyone used it for these purposes and are there any advantages over Foma VC paper? It's relatively more expensive for these purposes though. And every exposure is going to be a long exposure as the paper is reportedly 8 stops slower than normal paper as per FotoImpex website.

What is the precise size of 4x5" Lupex? Is it exacly the same as 4x5" sheet film? Thanks.

I recently bought a box and did a test with one negative. The film was Foma, either 200 or 400. That is why I have a print handy right now. From the contact print I can see that the paper is slightly larger than the negative. About 2mm in each dimension. I just tried and couldn't feed it into a Fidelity Elite film holder, which confirms that. 101.5mm x 126mm as measured with a metal ruler.

Do you plan to offer the Lupex 4x5 inch size going forward?

I wrote to Fotoimpex to ask when the 4x5 Lupex would be available again and received some good news on 4/17: that Lupex was in cutting and 4x5 would be available “within the next two weeks.”
