Depending on personal logistics, and obviously the same with Adox, I was thinking of contacting them in regards to ordering a batch of CMS 20 II in 120 as its only available in 35mm. I watched an interview on Youtube that had Adox's CEO Mirko Böddecker, he mentioned a short while ago that if you get in contact with them they are open to customs orders I believe. That being said id imagine a minimum order would probably be pertaining to a few hundred rolls. That being said if a custom order is within the realm of personal possibility and not obscene on cost would anyone be open to purchasing some CMS 20 II in 120?

I would be interested. I have been shooting it in 4x5, but I feel it's overkill... and bloody expensive! The price would have to be right, though.

Ill definitely keep a note of that, and im with the same line of thinking for price aswell. Regrettably I think my intuition is telling me it wont be cheap. Nonetheless I would sell it pretty much at cost. This idea was just sparked out of curiosity since I am very intrigued to try this film out but mainly shoot medium format. Additionally it seems since they only do limited runs of the film in 120 doing a custom order would be my only way of getting my hands on it in set desired format.

At the moment Adox is not manuacturing any type of 120 film...

Here the reasoning to this by Mirko himself:

This year Mirko reported that their spooling machine still is not running, let alone running economically for b&w. The issue is caused by lack of competent technical personnel (a general issue in Germany) for refurbishing and upgrading the machine.

Here is the link to Adox and the explanation of why they can't make any 120 at the moment

It is not. The need to slit masterrolls themselves was only one difficulty. You overlooked that there were at least two major issues and ignored much later statements by Mirko on a continueing issue I hinted at above.

I simply supplied a link to what Adox say in English on their web site. I didn't overlook anything, it is just a link, I can't edit their effing web site to make it more accurate.

The Adox website is erratic on information. On our forum alone Mirko gave deeper and more current information. One just would have to read them.

I think they are open to custom orders of things that they can reasonably manufacture....not a custom order of an entire product line they're unable to manufacture.

By all means ask, but I fear the answer will be the same as all other 120 films. They cannot manufacture any at this time, and likely won't be able to for some time.

My only wish is they'd bring back their papers but I'm not holding my breath.

So Mirko doesn't like to communicate with a wider audience by posting on their web site, although I suspect more people go directly to the Adox web site for answers than would ever think to come here. But you make a good point, communication between Adox and their customers is shit.

Agfa Copex Rapid is an alternative. They have discontinued production, but I believe 120 rolls are still available.

How do you know they stoped producing?

This was according to Henning Serger, who has numerous industry contacts.

Here is the post in question:

It doesn't sound worth holding our breath for 120 to arrive any time soon but in terms of what difficulties this gives us, I'd have thought that given how good it is in 35mm we can easily live without it in 120 - at least for a while yet

Yes. Mirko knows. If and when he can get his 120 finishing machine running for an economical cost, after being able to have a mechanic capable of bringing it to that status, you will see it.

Thank you, Sal. Fingers crossed!
