For those of us who already recognized how well CMS 20 II keeps, especially when cold stored, and have a "lifetime" supply on hand, the key question is: will ADOX continue to make and sell Adotech IV after it runs out of the film?

Good question, Sal. I've been wondering if it's a good choice for HR-50.

CMS 20 base film emulsion is no longer coated. The EPM shutdown affected all microfilm productions. We have enough stocks to carry us through another 1-2 years with CMS 20.
The remaiing stocks are available through Fotoimpex exclusively.
As an alternative we recomend our outstanding HR-50 which is already extremely fine grained and higher resolving than e.g. APX 25 or KB25 ever were. In short we plan to release a special developer which yields even finer grained images with this film if shot at 25 ASA. This film is sold in much larger quantities and can therefore be offered at a lower price as well.

Can we get one more order of CMSII in the USA? At least for bulk?
Also HR50 is unavailable in the USA

I ordered a few rolls of HR-50 from CineStill, which is in the US.

Ah! Oh! very good point. Didn´t think of this. We do not like to cancel a product if we are not forced to do so. We will try to keep it in the channel but ofcourse if production volumes drop, the price will increase (even further).

That's good to know. If it's the same stuff, did the Scala 50 also receive pre-exposure like HR-50 (although they call it Speed Boost, it's most likely pre-exposure)?

Scala and HR-50 are identical except for the arrangement of the Ink droplets on the sticker.

That's excellent news, Mirko! Thank you. I'm using CHS 100 II in 120 and absolutely love the film. I hope one of these days we will see it available again in sheet film sizes?
We are working on it. The swiss machine was down for several months due to the energy crisis in Europe. But we implemented some energy savings measures and plan to go back into production in the summer. Helios is already being coated at this moment.

Great news about HR50 in 120! But it might take a while, as you said Saturday with the slicing machine needing to be changed over to cutting paper.

Where did Mirko say that "on Saturday?" I find no PHOTRIO posts of his to that effect. What paper? Is MCC110 on the way back into production? Ernst-Jan, please stop teasing us that way.

thanks for the update. Happy you gave us the news here. Any plans of selling bulk rolls of CMS 20 or is only going to be in finished canisters?

john

All material is finished into 35mm canisters. We have no more raw material.

The raise in price is really unfortunate. 50% more ! And availability in Europe only is really unfair to american fans of CMS20
Really disappointing..
I always purchased 5 at the time because I was not paranoid about the film being discontinued.
SO many times I could have purchased a few hundred foots bulk.
I should have done it.,

What's the big deal about buying something from a vendor outside the USA? I see this all the time, Americans seem petrified about buying anything outside their country and I don't understand why. Just order from Fotoimpex and DHL delivers it to your door 2 days later. Fotoimpex even has an English version of their website. What's the difficulty?

I would love to hear and see more about your Swiss operation. Quite an achievement to start up such an operation.

How much would that cost? We are not made of money

Build an order at Fotoimpex and it shows the cost. A USA based vendor is buying it from Germany, having it shipped and adding their profit margin, why would that be cheaper than cutting out the middleman?

On the other hand CMS 20 is available in one place in the world now. If you want it, it costs what it costs.

Thanks for responding! Sorry to hear about the shutdown on microfilm production. I'll give the HR-50 a try, also looking forward to the trying the new developer when it comes out! I'm a huge fan of fine grained film.

Radost, the price of everything has gone up drastically in recent times. Still 10 rolls of CMS ii shipped to N America is 137.4 € so just under $15 usd /roll..... vs TMax 400 at $11/roll. We know it's a specialty film from a small producer in Europe....& times have changed, who thought we'd be paying $350 USD for a box of 16x20 paper? What we should have done doesn't count. Be thankful you're not a large format aficionado....

I am a large formatter....I can no longer afford a box of 8x10 HP5. Thankfully there is CatLABS 80, and for the ortho look, XRAY.
Speaking of HR-50, I have 5 rolls sitting next to me as I type this. We are in store for some sun starting tomorrow!
