i just got some of this film in 4x5. I was loading some film tonight and I have never experienced 4x5 film with black paper between the sheets. I have always used Arista 4x5 film and there was never paper. As I was sliding the film into the film holder I was thinking the emulsion was rather rough. Lol

Ha! I felt the same way. I accidentally loaded a sheet with the paper into a holder. Discovered it when i went to slide the sheet into the developer....duh.

It's not like there are any instructions lol.
I guess it's a smart idea to protect the emulsion. This way I can insert the film into the holder and then the last second I can remove the paper. Maybe it's a dust reducer.
It's still a pain though.

Back when the earth was young all the manufacturers of sheet film that I used at the time had paper interleaves between the films. The first box of film that I bought that had no paper between the film caused me to think, for a while, that I had a defective box of film. It is good to know that Adox is still doing that. That paper can protect the film from sticking together if the humidity is extremely high and possibly protect the film from scratches otherwise. Just be careful when loading film for processing that you don't try to develop a sheet of paper along with your film. It just doesn't work. (Been there, done that).........Regards!

Thanks! The paper was attached nicely. I slid it in the holder, and then removed the paper before closing the slide. Maybe it will help with the dust.

Almost all of the sizes it comes in have been sold out at Fotoimpex for months, so consider yourself lucky to have found a box. They will resume producing it when they have got their own coating machine up and running.

The CHS II is a high quality produced film, without the problems Efke sometimes had, and the grain is finer than the old 100 film.

I was glad to find that it was packed in a nice triple-box and with the protecting paper between the sheets. That's how it should be!

short dated 8x10 is on clearance right now at Freestyle.

I'm going to develop another roll or two to be sure, but I like this film in 120 and am probably going to order quite a bit more soon.

It's a bit curly - even after weeks of being pressed in a book, and I got a new glass carrier just for it, which definitely solves the problem. Reminds me of acros, with nice skies and highlights, and good separation of different greens without needing a filter, but it has lovely fine grain ( instead of virtually no grain in 120 acros ), and the shadows have something of a different character... hard to say in words, but the impression is something softer. I'm sure all of that has to do with how it is developed and printed, but I really like it so far.

I wouldn't worry too much. Normally when they are out of stock it means that you can still order the item and they will ship it when they get the next delivery, but Adox haven't been able to produce CHS II for months, and it's uncertain when they get the new coating maching up and running, and therefore you can call it discontinued temporarily. 5x7 isn't an odd size, so it will be one of the first sizes they cut when the production starts again.

Never went to that much trouble when loading holders with paper interleaved film. I just separated the film from the paper (in complete darkness, of course), put the paper to one side and loaded the film into the waiting holders. Never had a problem with dust. The idea of removing the paper at the last moment is new to me and I have not heard of anyone else doing it. As to the possibility of dust, A while before you load film, wipe down the film-loading area with a moist (not wet) clean towel or cloth, give it a few minutes to completely dry, then load your film. I would think that dust would no longer be a problem. (be sure the towel/cloth is not shedding lint)...Regards!
