ADOX acquires Ilford´s medium scale coating line

In order to develop and produce a larger variety of analog products in the future ADOX has acquired Ilford´s 52cm medium scale coating machine in Marly, Switzerland in February 2015.

Having in house coating capabilities not only closes a gap and make ADOX a full film factory- they also enable us to make all the products we ever dreamed of but never could due to high minimum coating volume restrictions of the external suppliers.

We are here to secure your analog needs for many years to come.

ADOX – Let´s make film!

Well timed post...

That's outstanding! With luck the new line will avoid those occasional "lightning bolt" defects I've experienced on MCC110 and affords you the opportunity to lower its surface gloss a bit. Despite those two small deviations from what would be a perfect paper for me, I just ordered several packages of MCC110 from Freestyle. After today's HARMAN sale announcement, here's hoping Adox thrives for the long term and doesn't fall prey to venture capitalists / private equity firms.

Because of Harman? That´s pure coincidence. We returned last night from Marly after having changed all fans and installed air filtration with a team of two engineers and two mechanics for three weeks. This is just the right time to make it public now from our side.

Well..probably not in the near future. One advantage of an entrepreneur owned business ;-)

Is the coating line suitable for film and paper? Will it have any impact on the production of Polywarmtone?

I didn't say intentionally well timed. Just well timed...

Is the coating line suitable for film and paper?

Yes, sure. Click on the vid. The first product is a three layer film and in the end three layers on paper.

Will it have any impact on the production of Polywarmtone?

Yes. It´s a Polywarmtone accelerator.

NOW, that's the news I want to hear!
Congratulations Mirko and to all your team!

Congratulations to ADOX and thanks for making such an investment. Great news!!

How long do you reckon it'll be before we start to see products from this machine?

Ok, I just watched...

Now THAT'S a hot video. I loved the triumphant double-arm pump!

Well done to everyone at Adox!

Did I misunderstand or is the location of the machinery still in Switzerland?? I don't understand how it can be a financially safe location if it is in the bankrupt Ilford site? I hope there is no short-term lease that spoils the fun!

I look forwards enormously to seeing what great materials you can make next

Edit: I eventually got the film to partially play (I'm on a low-power portable pc) and so yes, the machinery is in Switzerland and is very large. I assume that the leasing or site ownership is secure. Good luck with the next steps

Congratulations on the acquisition!

BRAVISSIMO!

I'll just be very happy if there is a B&W ISO400+ on the pipeline.
