ADOX 220?

Mirko, what do you think? Now that there is soon to be no supplier of B&W 220 film of any type in the world, do you think that Adox could step in and fill that gap using the hand assembly techniques that are currently used at the Efke plant for 127 and 620?

I fervently hope that that is possible, although I have a stock of Ilford 220 in the fridge and 40 rolls of TXP are on the way to go in my freezer. I'm not sure how long it will take me to go through such a stockpile. There are certainly a lot of 220 backs in use in the U.S.. The format apparently was never as popular in Europe, for reasons I don't understand.

I have 220 backs that love to use, I just haven't any 220 reels. If it becomes available, and sure as heck rootin for ya- it might get sent to DR5 or elsewhere.

Standard Paterson reels allow you to process 220.

Hewes makes 220 reels and they fit a standard stainless steel tank.

Sweet, thanks for the info. I've always gotten the hand-me-down stuff from photographers that I work for and all they had were 120. B/c of that I have always stuck with machine process films for 220.

I would love to see Adox AP 100 in 220, count me in for a big order. Well, as big an order as my budget will permit of course. But I promise to support Adox by promoting you wherever I can!

I put the question on the German ADOX-PHOTOIMPEX Photolaborforum where the new and coming ADOX 400 replacement for Agfa APX 400 is discussed. Mirko answered that he didn't rule out the possibility for a 220-version but for the introduction they have to concentrate on 135 , 120 and sheet film sizes. If we continue to beg, pray, hope and threaten there may be result one day.

For the foreseeable future he rules out any type 220 conversion, seen the complexity of even doing a type 120 conversion in decent quality.
