Wow... 1,080 JPY is almost 10 USD! I hope the price will get lower in the future.

If more people buy now, volumes will increase, and the price can come down. Hopefully.

At least in Australia Acros II is the same $$ as the current street price for Acros I so it's not as bad as it could've been.

About a month ago my local shop was selling Acros 35 mm for $25 bucks a roll and $15 for 120mm. $10 doesn't seen to out of line.

Yea, but its direct competitor, Kodak’s T-Max 100, costs under 6 USD per roll at B&H. It’s a huge difference.

I’ll be buying some rolls to try, but I do hope the price goes down in the future. And, BTW, I’ll be buying from Kumar, as he’s a great guy.

If I understand the laws of supply and demand and assuming that the current price has a reasonable margin of profit built in then it will drop in price if buyers vote with their wallets or not drop in price if the market remains buoyant at its current price. If the current price has almost no margin for profit and Fuji has miscalculated the demand at this price then Acros II will cease in a very short time and that will be the end of Acros

Isn't that the logic?

It will be interesting to see what it "hits the streets at" in the U.K. in what sounds like sometime in the early part of 2020

I apologise for adding my post #9 here now that I see that this is Kumar's classfied sale thread and I like others are now effectively high jacking it and turning it into pricing discussion

The problem I now have is that if I add my post to the other same titled thread then by itself it will appear to be a non sequitur I'll report my own post and see if the mods can move the pricing discussion to the other thread

In fact, I started the pricing discussion, not you. Yes, the Classifieds is not the right place for discussion, I understand.

Still, it’s a new stock and availability seems to be limited, as Fuji is selling it only in Japan right now. R&D costs are certainly included. Also, everyone needs a profit margin: Fuji, the distributor and Kumar. So, it’s perfectly understandable.

I just don’t want the price to remain at almost 10 USD per roll. Like I said, I will be buying some from Kumar.

Depends on what you're looking for in a film: I consider Xtra 400 a "direct competitor" to Portra 400 because it does all I need in a 400 speed C-41 film. Portra looks like terrible value there because it's almost twice the price of Xtra 400. Conversely, I look for very specific things when I shoot Acros, things which no other film can do (except Acros II now I guess). In that sense it's current price is fine as it's still less than E-6, which is most expensive in 35mm.

I appreciate the kind words, Flavio and I'm glad you're buying from me even though the price has become much higher than it used to be. But film is more of a service than a big money spinner for me. My prices are just slightly more than Yodobashi (1,040 JPY) to account for the miscellaneous expenses that are incurred in selling across borders.

I'm really glad to hear it's hit retail shelves, I I've shot a great deal of acros over the years and I'd like to have a supply of fresh stock. Looking at the yodobashi website with Google translate, acros II is only the equivalent of a dollar or two more a roll than hp5, so hopefully it'll be similar when (if?) It's available in the us.

Kumar, I'd like to order some from you what's your store? Assuming it's kosher to talk business here

I've heard he's done with photography and is in knitting or crocheting these days ...

Maybe he'll change his mind once he sees his beloved Acros is back...:D

Yes, of course, it's fine to talk here. This is the FS forum, after all. As I wrote in my first post, send me a message AKA start a conversation either here or through my FB page

I have said before and will keep saying you’re a great seller. I have bought from you four times, I think. Both film and gear. Never had a single problem. All the gear you sold me was better than described in the ads.

I talked about the price just because the old Acros used to be cheaper.

And, if anyone’s concerned, I have already ordered my film, along with some other goodies.
