Acidity of fixers

Print Washing Notes is a link to the article by David Kachel.

I am having some staining problems.

There isn't much of a saving. The instructions for using Hypo Eliminator in that article make it clear that you need to use the following wash technique:
"To use, remove prints from the wash tray or tank, half way through the wash, treat them in hypo eliminator for 10 minutes (agitating the same way as for all other steps in the process), then wash for an additional 20 minutes with frequent water changes."
(emphasis added by me).
Don't forget that this describes a process to be done with prints after toning. You still need to fully wash prints.

I understand that this item returns with a systematic frequency as it keeps some of us 'awake'.
I also understand that the flow of answers always coalesce to a similar outcome: chemicals, acidity, temperature, timing, clearing, rinsing, toning, washing and so many more.
I think (as I understand it) that any of us should search for an opus operandi that suits hem/her/X the best by keeping a thorough quest, for which this forum is a very good fishing ground, testing the different approaches and finally stick to one way and go out and take photographs...

By this I take the liberty to suggest one approach, the ILFORD one (again).
And I would like to point to The Image Permanence Institute of the Rochester Institute of Technology (remember Eastman-Kodak) which is a very interesting and extremely trustworthy source for information too. Not to mention the vast AGFA-Gevaert literature...

BTW: I use K.H.C.A. instead of the Ilford Washing Aid (that's for a little bit my way)...
