This is an Accura 12mm F8 true fisheye lens made in the late 60's or perhaps the early 1970's. The condition is good.

The lens mount is M42 as shown, but it can be changed since the lens is fundamentally a T-Mount lens meaning it will work on almost any camera ever made that uses interchangble lenses with the appropriate adapter. This lens is loads of fun to use, and delivers better results than expected, especially at f/16. In my opinion, this lens is also very well made, especialy for an afermarket lens (Made in Japan).

David, this lens brings back fond memories from when I was the Marketing Manager for Interphoto Corporation in the '60's.
We sold this lens under our Accura name, while our wholly-owned subsidiary, Spiratone, sometimes sold it under the same name or under their own private label.
The lens was designed by Michihiro Yamaki, the founder of Sigma in 1961.
He designed several different fish-eye lenses during the fish-eye craze in the 1960-1970 SLR era.
I first saw a sample of this lens around 1965 and tested it on a Nikon F with Kodachrome.
As I recall, we sold it for about $100 (retail), with a T-Mount attached, while Spiratone sold it without an attached T-Mount.
I'm glad that you have that impossible to replace front lens cap!

so -- wait. Would you remove the M42 to use a T mount to F adapter? Or just get an M42 to F adapter?
 
I don’t want to hijack David’s ad, but…..
The original design of this lens was T-Mount. A T-2 Mount can also fit, the advantage is the easier ability to position the the lens so the f/stop indicator is directly at 12:00.
If I were shooting with this lens, I would prefer using the proper T-Mount or T-2 Mount. Why use two adapters when just one will do?
 
It actually doesn't matter -- I went and looked and there are a variety of adapters available for very little money so it's easy to do. It's an oddball, but a fun lens for the very little money.
 
Yes a T2 adapter is best (very common). The best way to use the lens on another camera is to remove the existing M42 T2 adapter and use one for the camera one needs.That is, the lens is a native T lens. I have a few unused T2 and T adapters and can include one for your camera if I have one in a mount someone needs (please just ask). These adapters are usually sold for pocket money on eBay anyway - for most camera mounts - they are very common.

Mirror lockup is not required - the rear element does not protrude.
