The name didn't ring any bells in my memory but for some reason I think I've seen his work before.

I had the same reaction but can't place it.

Remarkable pictures. And an interesting sample of cameras used to capture them. And I also admire the research/scouting that presumably was a prerequisite.
But... after viewing a dozen of these technically perfect pics, all frontal perspective, I feel like looking at the butterfly displays in a museum of natural history.

Thanks, some interesting stuff there. I have photographed a few old industrial sites around my area, and in the course of searching out information found Opacity which documents some gritty stuff. There are people out there who, as an adventurous hobby, surreptitiously enter and photograph interiors of structures that are deteriorated to the point I would be reluctant to stand next to them, let alone climb inside! I am particularly amazed at some of the old steam powered generating stations that appear to be still pretty much intact given the amount of steel and copper embedded in them. But then I suppose the cost of removing and/or disassembling such gear might exceed the value of the salvaged material as scrap. (Something for future archeologists to puzzle over in the next millennium, I guess.)

Nice pics of great locations indeed, but the one-dimentional compos are just... a weird limitation to indulge with such a skill on display.

Let me just chime in by saying that I've been exploring long enough that I could start describing myself in terms of URBEX or Urban Exploration as it's called: abandonment, falling apart, discovery, grit, death and rediscocery.

And my photography originates from this URBEX activity: first a need just to document where and what, but later - say something on it through phototherapy.

How did you accomplish your Madonna with rumpled paper ?

Looks pretty much like most of the apts and hotels that I lived in back in the day in San Francisco's "colorful" Tenderloin District, except that the places in the link are in much better shape.

Interesting series, but not gritty enough for me.

Why do I want to go remodel that building? Frankly, its in pretty good shape for an abandoned building. On the whole, it appears to need some cosmetic work.

Damn shame it can't be fixed and made into affordable housing...

Madonna was shot at a modern art exhibition that was housed in an office of an abandoned rubber factory that I managed to visit off-hours. It's a straightforward shot of someone's installation otherwise and sadly I cannot google the artist responsible for that beautiful instance of vandalism.

I'm enthusiastic about installation art in general....tocka exhibit must have been very rewarding to participants and viewers.
