According to Nancy Newhall, in 1933 Ansel Adams went to NY to show his portfolio to Alfred Stieglitz. Does somebody know the prints size AA used in this portfolio ?

This is all I can find

From "Ansel Adams An Autobiography" Pg 100

"I gave him my portfolio and he opened it. It contained a number of small photographs, all recent contact prints that I felt were my best"

I don't know if he was using an 8X10 camera at the time.

He might have been using the 5x7" Zeiss Juwel then.

I recently saw an exhibit at The University of Florida from a private collection - there were lots of images I had never seen before, either as prints or as reproductions. There were a number of small prints from the late 20s and early 30s. Some that I believe to have been contact prints were 5x7 - others were 4x5. There were also a few prints at slightly smaller than 5x7 that, according to some of the books, were originally shot with a 4x5. So he must have enlarged some prints only a little bit.

I might also have trimmed down the 5x7's.
