I had a new F-1 out in -25°C last week, and it worked flawlessly. I'd put in a fresh battery and enjoy the Alps.

Well, a refrigerator will get you down to about 3 - 4 degrees C. A domestic freezer maybe goes down to -18 C.

If you place the camera in a sealed bag and then into the freezer, DO NOT, unseal the bag and test the camera unless you are prepared for all sorts of condensation issues in the camera / lens. Test the frozen camera while it is in the sealed bag. Let the camera come to room temp before you remove it from the sealed bag and you will be a happy chappy.

I didn't think that there was anything wrong with it, the Canon F 1s are in my experience some of the toughest 35mm S.L.Rs ever made.

Contax RTS when quickly holding out the windows- not that cold outside- shutter non- working. its moisture. condensed water. how about those warming collars? usb- driven. one could use a powerpack. or external batteery. should be available for the F1. if not one can make. for EOS there are those powerpacks using D type batteries the biggest ones. there is even a workaround to use these for other models how about F1?
how about getting the mechanical EF. i wouldnt trust A1 eighter.
