I like how Bill gets Vaughn to open the beer for him.
Once a darkroom tech, always a darkroom tech? :whistling:

Hard to believe Bill Owens was 80 years old in that video, he seemed a lot younger. Maybe I'd better start drinking beer! :D

He is distilling now -- publishes a magazine on it for people getting started in the art. Mighty fine whiskey!

Thanks Vaughn for the sad news. A wonderful place and exhibitions. The Dick Garrod show a number of years ago was a highlight in my viewing experience.

I found out today that there is still hope that PhotoCentral might exist in one form or another -- but we'll have to see how things shake out after the world regains some balance. Nothing remains the same and the situation is unsure for the time being...which is a lot better than I had originally thought.

Covid temporarally closed the program down, but I do not know it what form it will rise up again when darkroom work is considered a safe enough group activity. Kate and Geir have moved north, so it will depend on the interest and HARD (rec. district) on where it goes next.

Sad to learn of the possible end of another classical photography resource.
Happily, San Francisco Parks and Recreation still operates its photo center, the Harvey Milk Photo Center. We used this center whlle I was a Teaching Assistant for a photography course at the University of San Francisco.
Celebrating over 75 years, the Harvey Milk Photo Center is the oldest and largest community wet darkroom in the United States. We also offer a full Digital Lab at our facility to our members.

Programs at this Site
Our program annually now exceeds over 300 classes, workshops and lectures. All exhibits, lectures, special events, memberships, are available to the public. Our wide selection of classes and workshops are taught by working professionals within the industry, in both fine arts and commercial photography. We also offer numerous scholarships for anyone living in San Francisco wishing to take our classes.
