It's been a long time since I was around, but I thought I'd pop in again and see what the world of APUG is looking like these days. I keep in touch with a number of you on Facebook, and am now devoting the majority of my photography-related time teaching film workshop (inspirational and informational) here, there, and everywhere. I'm slowly but surely doing my bit to convert the digital masses.

I hope to be as active as I can as time allows. Life is pure chaos -- I'm fairly recently single again with three kids, the oldest of whom is about to become a US Marine. Time flies.

Best of luck! Mom/Artist is a tough gig to pull off simultaneously (same true for Dad/Artist, of course.) Congratulations on the fine launch of #1 child. Best to him, too.

Thanks so much, everyone. Gene, it's possible we'll make it out that far. We've been playing like crazy all over the place, and the summer is great for the mountain towns. I'll keep you posted if we do. We head back into the studio next week, and my jazz / torch song project is also getting a little crazy. In addition, the Arkansas band (the Red Barn Ramblers) has blown up and playing some big shows in the Fayetteville area. So, yes, I'm constantly on the run.

I've posted an image from a workshop I conducted a few days ago, and will try to post some more of my recent stuff there shortly. I've been shooting a lot, although I've taken a formal break from paid portrait work.

Hi Cheryl - good to hear from you!

As a matter of coincidence, I was thinking about you today, in the context of a Portrait lighting seminar that our mutual friend Sharon was instrumental in arranging.

Your past true to the core posting on how to make it in photography is still taped to the back of my darkroom door, some years after you posted it here.

I have a spare copy I always keep at my desk at work too.

I hand a copy out whenever the next (usually young) person comes by talking about what buying more gear will do for them as a photograher.

I am glad the good old old APUG has pulled you back to posting.

You look like you are living a busy life.

All the best.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. Mike, when I wrote that article (over lunch at a fast food joint) I had no idea how popular it would be. Glad it's been helpful.
Not The Gettysburg address then, just The McDonalds declaration
