I am pleasantly surprised to find a place for film users in this digital era, when well-known companies are dropping at least a part of their analogue business…
I’ve been shooting mainly 35 mm for about 25 years and ocasionally 6 x 9 cm with a 70 years old Voigtlander. I am - and most probably - I will remain an amateur, that means shooting for my own pleasure and being in competition with myself only.
Digital stuff? Yes, I’m using it: for scanning my negs or slides for archival purposes (I had a bad experience with fading colors on my first slides) and – still not decided if worthy - for posting somewhere.
I came here because of the quality of the posts and I'm sure I'll learn a lot from you.

Adrian

Welcome, Adrian. I am sure you will like it here.

Glad to meet you Adrian and hello from eastern Canada.
I love your line "in competition with myself". That sums up the way I shoot and I am my harshest critic.

servus, Adrian...welcome to APUG.

Greetings from the UK. If you want to post photos you will not find a less judgmental, more supportive gtoup anywhere.
They are even kind about some of my efforts.

Cheers CJB

This welcome is from the lowest point of the Balkans, actually from the most southern island of Greece. You are bound to have a good time here in APUG and don't hesitate to take part in our persuit for artistic perfection.

Another "warm" welcome from Tucson, Arizona (41c today maybe?). You have found a wonderful group of people here. Be careful using the "d" word. Best, tim

Thank you all for your welcome! You are very kind.

Yes, Mike, you're right. Nobody can be tougher with you than yourself: you know your limits and your thoughts... At least this is what it happens to myself.

And what a beautiful country you live in (apart from the awful roads)! I was in Romania last year and hope to be there again next year.

Cheers,

Roger (www.rogerandfrances.com, where you will find a number of scattered Romanian/Transylvanian shots).
Roger, I am "feeling" those roads every day and I know what you mean. Statistically speaking, gorgeous landscapes have the worst roads.
My wife is from Transylvania and we are traveling there each summer on a different route. Drop me a line when you have a plan in the area, maybe we'll meet somewhere. Or I could offer you some local tips, if you need any.

Thank you, Tim. You guessed, I'm using 41c process (I'm using Fuji films, negs and slides).
About the "d" word, I'm careless. I use film only. I was just stating the way I use this alternate process route and why: my 20 years old slides faded horrible... Did you used ORWO UT 18 DIN?

I wish you all inspiration!

Welcome to APUG, Adrian!

My grandparents were from the Transylvania region. My grandmother & her family lived in a town now known as Bahnea. I hope to one day visit there.

This is a wonderful place with lots of information. Happy you could join us!

A warm welcome from Philadelphia, PA. I'm sure you will enjoy APUG.

Regards,
Bill

bzzzzzzzzzzz...whack: A big blood sucking welcome from mosquito infested South Florida USA.

Hi Adrain from Toronto!

Its a balmy 36c with the humidity factored in. My sister in law is Romanian, she came to Canada in her late teens with her parents to start a new life in Canada in the early 1990's.

BWGirl;
Wait too long and you'll never go. I finally decided to go to Europe last year and now I just can't believe I waited that long. I have been all over the Far East and wanted to go to Europe but things just kept coming up. Finally I just made it a priority.

Welcome Adrian from Las Vegas Nevada...102 F today...we had a bit of an Arctic chill today with some cloud cover, but it should warm up a bit tomorrow...looking forward to seeing some photographs of Romania!

Actually, I think he meant the temperature where he lives is 41c outside.

Greetings from Finland Adrian and welcome to APUG!

Cheers
