Several years ago I attended an Alternative Photography Symposium put on by CPHT-Pacifica. Mark Osterman was the keynote speaker and Denise Ross was one of the most interesting resource people.
It was a fascinating weekend!
I learned the process originally from Mark, and also enjoyed Denise's books. I very much agree with the advice to learn to make a basic emulsion before chasing speed; although the process isn't all that difficult (at least for the basic emulsion) there are a lot of variables that can trip you up along the way and it's best to get them sorted out before you introduce new ones (esp. ammonia!).
Mark and France (his wife and business partner) from time to time offer a short course in gelatin dry plate making via Zoom; they just hosted one a couple weeks ago. You can contact them for information about future classes at their website: collodion.org.
