You can correct for exposure deviations caused by incorrect but consistent shutter speeds through compensating aperture changes.

You are quite right but I personally couldn't be bothered with that Ralph, It's far too messy I have six Canon FD SLR bodys I would have to remember which speeds were inaccurate on each body.

My wife's name is not Ralph, or wasn't the last time I spoke to her, it's some girls type name that I can't quite recall at the moment :smile:

That's a great method, and I have used it many times. I also have a Calumet Shutter Tester, which is unfortunately not available anymore, and used right, the audacity method in combination with the right detection hardware is more accurate, because it can records more cycles per second. Attached is a test of the 1/500s setting on a Nikon.

I know this is a very old thread, 15+ years, but @RalphLambrecht I will certainly appreciate it if you ar still on te site and care to disclose what detection hardware you used to produce that clean measurement.
