Funny, I have one of those Kiev's as well. I ran a test roll through it back in February. Turned out to work just fine. You're right to put that hood on it; that little lens flares like a ....
This is one of the frames on that test roll; there wasn't anything particularly interesting on it.

I find that arrangement and lighting interesting and well done, I'm actually really surprised how well the Jupiter-8 lens performs wide open at mid-distances, its character is something that's grown on me over time. There is some copy variation, mine is coated and I haven't noticed it to be too flarey, at least not compared to the Jupiter-11 135mm.
