Google lens says it's a Beefsteak mushroom
A.k.a. fistulina hepatica; I'm not 100% positive as it just miiiight be a reddish ganoderma sp. But f. hepatica sounds like a reasonable guess. One glance at the bottom would clarify. Nice find; I don't come across them very often and usually they're far beyond well done by the time I find them!

Hah! The snake seemed in an odd state, possibly sleeping. I wondered if it was dead but there was a little movement when I touched it with a leaf. It does appear that the eyes are closed.

Testing my focusing skills with the view camera. Every year the focusing screen gets more fussy. Or maybe, but that’s highly unlikely, my eyes get older.
