Australia and New Zealand Picture Exchange Round #13

Afternoon All,

OK Folks. Summer Holidays are nearly here, which means everyone is busy beavering away in their darkrooms.....right? So, why not start Round 13 of the Australia and New Zealand Picture Exchange!

Registrations are NOW open!

Before we continue, there are a few things I would like to stipulate:
  • If you want to be involved, you must be committed to printing and sending by the time frames specified below. This will mean it will be a trouble free and enjoyable exercise with minimal fuss!
  • If we have less then 5 participants, the round will be cancelled and picked up again if and when there is more interest.

OK, here is the nitty gritty.

How it works:

  • Groups will be of similar/equal numbers not exceeding 12 people depending on how many people sign up
  • Each person makes a number of identical prints for the others in their group and posts it to the organizer (me) along with an info sheet on how you made the print and what ever other information you wish to share
  • The organiser collates everyone's prints and sends you back one print from each person in the group.

The rules:

  • Entry is open to Australian and New Zealand members, or those "International" members who have an affinity to our fine southern lands.
  • Prints must be no larger then 8 inches on the short side and 10 inches on the long side. For example, 8x8 prints are OK. 8x10 prints are also OK. But 10x10 prints are too big and can't be forwarded on to the other participants.
  • Prints must be unmounted
  • Prints must be from analog media (ie. negative/transparency, film/paper), commercial printing is acceptable as are inkjet prints as long as it was taken on analog media. However photos taken with a digital camera are not permitted.
  • You have to tell us how you made the print
  • You must post the prints to the organizer (address will be PM'd after sign-up) before the close date, include stamped self addressed envelope that is large enough for 8x10 prints. You are responsible for ensuring correct postage and adequate protection for the prints from the postage system, water damage etc. Whatever protection you provide for the prints will be the same for the prints returned to you.
  • International participants can send me some funds via Paypal to cover return postage of their set of prints. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT POSTAGE TOO AND FROM AUSTRALIA CAN BE EXPENSIVE. Please keep this in mind before you register.
  • Late dispatches of prints to the organizer for what ever reason is discouraged as it delays the return of all prints for that group. If prints are going to be late, that participant ('Laggard') is to advise all in the group, and if the others so decide the organizer will return the collected prints, and the 'Laggard' will be responsible for sending out their prints to the individuals of the group. The 'Laggard' will also have a set of prints held with the organizer that they have to arrange postage for.

The dates:

Round #13 - December 2015/March 2016
Sign up by 3rd of January.*
Prints made and sent to me no later than 29th of February.
Prints exchanged and returned for comments during the month of March.

Round #14 - April/July 2016
Sign up by 30th of April.
Prints made and sent to me no later than 30th June.
Prints exchanged and returned for comments during the month of July.

Round #15 - August/November 2016
Sign up by 31st of August.
Prints made and sent to me no later than 31st October.
Prints exchanged and returned for comments during the month of November.

If you want to be involved, please post a reply to this thread.

Are you in?

*Why the extra few days? I'll have limited internet access between Dec 26th to Jan 3, so you might as well have a few extra days to register!

Tentative. All the prints I got in exchange were amazing but Printing 10 10x8s was tough work.

Try 14mile. Say you sould come over for the Woodward Dream Cruise. I'm walking distance from Woodward. With your interest in cars your mind and shutter finger will be blown away.

Hah! Didn't realise that there were other roads using distances as names. All I know about Detroit geography I have learnt from Hard Core Pawn or Eminem.....

But, yes, I do know about the Woodward Dream Cruise. That would be awesome! Did you see it this year?

I was there every afternoon in August trying to get through it to go home. But each weekend my son and I would walk down to Woodward with out chairs and esky and brolly in case we didn't score a tree for shade and watch. I only spent one day shooting film. Gotta scan the negs to see how well the pictures turned out. Used the 35mm Minox, the Kodak Brownie (1914 model) and my Kodak Panoram (1904 model).

Anyone else?

Yes, I.

My father finally died on December 20th - sooner as expected. His prognoses were 3 months at first, but it reduced to three weeks and then just one week within days. His hart was damaged too much to keep going for long. So I brought him home to take care of him a week before he died because he wanted to die at home. We had a good week to do all the things he still wanted and to say our farewells. Then he went in peace surrounded by his family - as he wanted. It was good this way.

Last week I helped my mother to move to an apartment close to my home so we can take care of her.

So I'm climbing out of the cocoon and will try to take up the pace of normal life again. A strange thing to do. And making&printing some fine images will be a good way to do that. So count me in.

Thank you all for the kind words and support (here and in PM's). It makes you feel warmer.
Here is a portrait of my dad I made in 2002. He is sitting on his old military fire truck from 1958 that he fully restored:

(a DAF YA126 from 1958, made in Holland)

I inherited this truck and will keep it rolling.
