Hi Folks,

OK, an update. As per the last post, I am still waiting on one set of prints. I was advised that they were going to get done a few weeks ago, but I haven't heard anything since.

I have asked for an update ASAP. Are you guys willing to wait a little longer? I personally would like to close off this round as soon as I can.

Cheers

Mmmm... Maybe the values I was taught early in my life still influence my behaviour. For me, "a deal is a deal" and so I strive to always meet my self imposed deadlines. Patience in this instance is simply forgiveness of tardy and undisciplined behaviour which is indicative of an insensitive attitude toward all other participants in this print exchange. So, why wait? Fred.

Hi all,
My apologies for the late response (despite Ashley calling now and again). I've been offline for about three weeks due to working over 60 hours a week. My first attempt for printing went wrong and I didn't find the time yet to redo it. It wouldn't be before next week and shipping will take another 10 days or so from Europe. So I'll have to bail out at this very late moment. Sorry.

BTW: before I enter an new round again, I'll first print the images upfront before enlisting at all. Should be saver for I don't foresee my life getting any easier. This way I don't have to disappoint anyone again.

Hi Marc,

Did you ever get 'round to making some prints with that thingy I sent you?

This PX thing seems interesting, did not notice before perhaps I can join maybe the round 15 once uni is finished.
Is there any kind of critique or discussion aspect or what not? What do we usually do with the prints or just mainly sharing?

Hello Calebarchie,

I thought I might step in as I have managed to participate in all the rounds bar one (the round before this one) and my comments are this. Every round varies greatly in the standard/style and areas of interest. There has been everything from 1:1 prints off pinhole camera paper negatives right the way through to Van Dyke prints on Fabric and Red/Blue stereo/3D pictures complete with viewing glasses - there is a name for this print but itr escapes my mind.

In the past I have always looked forward to having my images criticized and like wise doing the same to others. If you look back at some of the comments and feed back from the past rounds you'll see this does occur for the most part, but time often prevents most of us from completing this part of the round to the extent maybe it should. I know I have on more than one occasion been delinquent in giving detailed critique on all the prints i have received. Part of the failing of the participants giving critique on the prints they have is because we all like to wait until everyone has their prints on hand before giving away what is coming in the mail. Having had the role of organiser (organizer) for nearly 10 rounds I know how hard it is to keep quiet about what is in the exchange before everyone else has seen their returned prints.

If you are looking for the participants to comment on your prints and there is none to little out there speak up and ask, similarly don't hold back on your behalf on what you have rec'd. Some APUGers have joined for a round and commented the standard was not to their liking, other have joined for a round and found the standard too high for their liking. I appreciate that some people have skills that will leave me for dead and welcome their comments and I think I might just be able to offer someone else some valuable feedback on a print I have been given.

Me, Well I am in it for the chance to get at least 10 prints (this round was odd in that it was only 8) that all very unique for a small amount postage, I get to see many different printing styles and usually an explanation on why/how/when/what the print is all about. I also enjoy pushing myself each round to try and better what I was able to send to fellow APUGers in the past, thus learning and bettering the skills I enjoy using.

Hi Folks,

Glad to see that the first parcels are getting through.

I know last round did fizzle in the comments department, but it would be nice if a few of us could make a few comments here or there. Maybe give it a little bit for images to get to the US?

As for the next and subsequent rounds, I am not sure whether I am the right person for the job. I have one reason why I want to disqualify myself, which I will go into later. That being said, I don't really want this exchange to die off either.

Cheers

This is it for me.

Hi Calebarchie! Which thingy was that?

I, too have been a bit lazy with feedback this last couple of rounds - perhaps rather than wait 'till absolutely everyone has their parcel (and then forget completely), I'll stare at the prints for a few days and post some comments about them all on the weekend!

I agree with Andy C's reason for participating! It's very interesting to see everyone's technique and sense of things...

Hi Andy,

That certainly seems like something I would like to participate in, could be very interesting. As for standards and feedback I would think I am on the lower end  CC and comments are good and only going to help you develop, that said I shall have a look at past feedback threads to get a taste! BTW I think it is called anaglyphs or stereoscopic images.

Marc, the film recorder I sent you early last year or have you shuffled it along already? :D I look forward to joining some time in the next few rounds.

Aha! That thing... Yep, I've used that a fair bit, including making some film (TMax) business cards and burning some iphone & DSLR pictures to film for darkroom printing. It's a great device!

What size did you print? And it turned out all good? I'm surprised and glad you find it useful.
Post a pic up here if you can!
