Australia and New Zealand Picture Exchange Round #12

Afternoon All,

Now that I am back on deck and we have swung into a schedule that works a bit better, I would like to open registrations for round #12 of the A/NZ Picture Exchange.

Before we continue, there are a few things I would like to stipulate:
  • If you want to be involved, you must be committed to printing and sending by the time frames specified below. This will mean it will be a trouble free and enjoyable exercise with minimal fuss!
  • If we have less then 5 participants, the round will be cancelled and picked up again if and when there is more interest.

OK, here is the nitty gritty.

How it works:

  • Groups will be of similar/equal numbers not exceeding 12 people depending on how many people sign up
  • Each person makes a number of identical prints for the others in their group and posts it to the organizer (me) along with an info sheet on how you made the print and what ever other information you wish to share
  • The organiser collates everyone's prints and sends you back one print from each person in the group.

The rules:

  • Entry is open to Australian and New Zealand members, or those "International" members who have an affinity to our fine southern lands.
  • Prints can be up to 8x10inch
  • Prints must be unmounted
  • Prints must be from analog media (ie. negative/transparency, film/paper), commercial printing is acceptable as are inkjet prints as long as it was taken on analog media. However photos taken with a digital camera are not permitted.
  • You have to tell us how you made the print
  • You must post the prints to the organizer (address will be PM'd after sign-up) before the close date, include stamped self addressed envelope that is large enough for 8x10 prints. You are responsible for ensuring correct postage and adequate protection for the prints from the postage system, water damage etc. Whatever protection you provide for the prints will be the same for the prints returned to you.
  • International participants can send me some funds via Paypal to cover return postage of their set of prints. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT POSTAGE TOO AND FROM AUSTRALIA CAN BE EXPENSIVE. Please keep this in mind before you register.
  • Late dispatches of prints to the organizer for what ever reason is discouraged as it delays the return of all prints for that group. If prints are going to be late, that participant ('Laggard') is to advise all in the group, and if the others so decide the organizer will return the collected prints, and the 'Laggard' will be responsible for sending out their prints to the individuals of the group. The 'Laggard' will also have a set of prints held with the organizer that they have to arrange postage for.

The dates:

Round #12 - May/August 2015
Sign up by 30th of June.
Prints made and sent to me no later than 31st August.

Round #13 - September/December 2015

So, who's in?

Count me in - This time no moving house I promise ... New darkroom is setup and ready to go.

I'm in too.... need something to 'make' me get in the darkroom!

Wish I was able to , just can't

This will be fun to do again. Since there are already more than 5 participants this round will go through.
So I'll start shooting and printing right away

I'm in.

How do you generally post them? Just straight in an envelope or in a plastic bag first or something?

Any expectations on form or quality? I still consider myself a novice with darkroom printing.

Update to the list!:
  1. Hoffy
  2. TheToadMan
  3. Andrew K (From the Rd 11 discussion thread)
  4. jamespierce
  5. Nige
  6. SMBooth
  7. Carriage
  8. ......

7 nominations - I believe we have a game!

Carriage, welcome aboard! Quality wise, we all had to start somewhere, so there is no expectations of Weston/Adams quality prints! It is fun watching peoples skills grow over the rounds, so any novice is more than welcome.

As for postage, typically most sandwich the prints between two pieces of card or matt board and wrap them with either a piece of paper or a plastic to keep them firm and tight and then stuff them into an envelope. The important thing is to keep the packaging around the prints tight, so they don't move around to much and damage the edges. Also, please ensure that you include a return envelope of the same size with the same postage, so I can send them back! I will use the same (or similar packaging) when posting back, unless there is a problem.

Cheers all!

Hello all! Greetings from the Gold Coast, Queensland... I've been lurking for too long now - time to get moving, both literally and figuratively... off "my butt", and back into the field! Joining the print exchange is an opportunity too good to miss! So, Hoffa, If I may... I'd appreciate being included in this round.

About me: I'm retired, I enjoy the art challenge & complexity of the photographic process, these days my inclination is monochrome output rather than colour. My first camera was the Nikkormat FTn (when first released). Yep, it has been a long, long time! And, I still own one too! A couple of Canon models, Mamiya RZ67 Pro plus all the bits 'n pieces make up the kit - more than enough to slow down any photo walkabout! I confess to photgraphic lethargy and need to shake off the cobwebs therefore, and with the indulgence of the group, I'd like to be part of the "team".

thank you for taking charge... Take care, Fred

Almost missed this post. Please count me in under the international banner. Just developed 13 rolls of 35 and 9 4x5 sheets from my recent trip to NYC. There should be something in there worth sharing!

as long as I don't actually have to start until after my last exam on June 29th, I'll go again...

I bet you thought that I forgot, didn't you....well, truth be told, I kinda did (busy week at work).

I'll send out notifications, shortly, as well as starting a printing and discussion thread. For those who played last time, it is the same address.

Don't forget, you need to produce and send me 9 prints! Prints are due to me by the 31st of August!

Cheers

OK, off to the darkroom ASAP. I just started a remodelling job in the house (basement), but can leave it for the darkroom. If I haven't mentioned it before, I use the community art gallery darkroom. There are only a handfull of us analog photographers who use it, and its a big facility-11 fully equipped stations with two 8-foot temp contolled sinks. unfortunately, I have to follow its somewhat limited hours of operation.

My photographic gear has arrived in MI at my new home. Now all I got to do is get the darkroom set up, but first my better half has plans for the basement. I chalked out my dream area in the basement so now I have to see if I get it all. Tonight is our first night in 'Our House'.

I hope to be in the next round!
