A/NZ PX Round #11 - Sign-up
Australia and New Zealand Picture Exchange Round #11

G'day all!

I had a squiz in here last night and have noticed its been over 12 months since the last print exchange. I have contacted Andy(Oxleyroad) to get his blessing and have decided to see if we can get round 11 up and running.

Firstly, before we get into specifics, I'd like to thank Andy for running the first 10 rounds. These certainly became a highlight for me and I enjoyed every single one of them. Andy did a wonderful job co-coordinating these, so a big THANK YOU!

OK, now down to specifics. I think the way it was run before was relatively good, so I think we will stick to the same rules.

The one thing I will stress, though, is that if you want to be involved, you must be committed to printing and sending by the time frames specified below. This will mean it will be a trouble free and enjoyable exercise with minimal fuss!

OK, on with the show (pretty much a cut and paste from Rd #10)

How it works:

- Groups will be of similar/equal numbers not exceeding 12 people depending on how many people sign up
- Each person makes a number of identical prints for the others in their group and posts it to the organizer (me) along with an info sheet on how you made the print and what ever other information you wish to share
- The organiser collates everyone's prints and sends you back one print from each person in the group.

The rules:

- Prints can be up to 8x10inch
- Prints must be unmounted
- Prints must be from analog media (ie. negative/transparency, film/paper), commercial printing is acceptable as are inkjet prints as long as it was taken on analog media. However photos taken with a digital camera are not permitted.
- You have to tell us how you made the print
- You must post the prints to the organizer (address will be PM'd after sign-up) before the close date, include stamped self addressed envelope that is large enough for 8x10 prints. You are responsible for ensuring correct postage and adequate protection for the prints from the postage system, water damage etc. Whatever protection you provide for the prints will be the same for the prints returned to you.
- International participants can send me some funds via Paypal to cover return postage of their set of prints.
- Late dispatches of prints to the organizer for what ever reason is discouraged as it delays the return of all prints for that group. If prints are going to be late, that participant ('Laggard') is to advise all in the group, and if the others so decide the organizer will return the collected prints, and the 'Laggard' will be responsible for sending out their prints to the individuals of the group. The 'Laggard' will also have a set of prints held with the organizer that they have to arrange postage for.

The dates:
Round #11 - October 2014/January 2015
Sign up by 31st of October.
Prints made and sent to me no later than 31st December 2014.
Prints exchanged and returned for comments during the month of January 2015.

Depending on the success of the exchange, will determine whether we will continue into round #12 and on-wards.

So, who's in?

The list thus far:
  1. Hoffy
  2. Oxleyroad
  3. Michael W
Cheers

Oh shucks it was nothing.

I'm in while I'm still living in Oz and have a darkroom.

I could knock out 5 pix now.

After 2hrs of tele conferences with the US I am ready for an all night 'er in the darkroom. But I'll sure pay if I do. The two little'uns aren't going to be sympathetic to a dad who has not slept all night.

You guys (and gals if such is the case) were kind enough to let me participate in the last 3 or 4 rounds even though I'm not from A or NZ (but still part of the Commonwealth). If you will permit me again, I'll make it 8! On the other hand, if you want to keep it between A & NZ, I understand and won't be offended. However, it will necessitate me exchanging prints with myself!

Good to have you back Bob. As you can see I've handed the reins over to Hoffy (Ash) as for twelve months I did nothing... I'll likely be located a little closer to yourself very soon and I'm hoping I will be able to continue participating once I get a new darkroom set up in MI USA.

Hmmm, a Canadian being involved.

I think you must pass the APUG Aussie Citizenship test before you can continue :whistling::
1) Who was Australia's first Prime Minister?
2) What are the Lyrics of the second verse of the Australian National Anthem?
3) What is the standard bore and stroke of the Holden 308 Blue V8 motor?
4) Multiple choice - Which of the following responses is correct? A) Vegemite is a wonderful product and I love eating it. B) Vegemite is horrible and I wouldn't give it to my worse enemy.

OK, if you can answer 2 of the above questions in the same way a typical Aussie would, you're in.

I'll give it a shot:

1: Bulupin Kwobinyarn

2: Trick question, you wanted me to sing "God save the Queen" didn't you?

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We'll toil with hearts and hands;
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands;
For those who've come across the seas
We've boundless plains to share;
With courage let us all combine
To Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.

3: 4" or 101.6mm

4: pancakes!

How did I do? Can I join too?

Hmmm, time to get the red pen out.

I mark that has half a point. Sorry. We'll have to take this to the committee to see if we can ratify you

How we sailed into Sydney Harbour
Saw an old friend but couldn't kiss her
She was lined, and I was home to..."

Only half a point? Are you sure? Maybe I shouldn't have written in English, since you're all from down under?

First, I think it's common practice to do these tests only after a few beers...Ready, I'm okay.
1. Pass me another tinny and I'll think about it:unsure:
2. There's a second verse?:w00t:
3. Depends on who's driving:tongue:
4.

Here's a hint, it's a trick question. No real aussies would know the answers to 1 and 2, if you do you're obviously a foreigner with a misguided attempt to fit in.
3 I have no idea, I've been a Ford man since before I was born (sorry Andy). Although my mum learnt to drive in a Premier, all my parents have bought in 40 years were Cortina, Falcon, Falcon (now mine), and Fairmont.
4 is the real test. We go through a jar a week, my missus eats it with a spoon. When she came to live with me in NL she brought 1kg for 6 months and ran out in 2, the expat shop in The Hague got a lot of business from us...

ps, I'll be in, I need a kick up the butt to print sometimes, and I've got some wonderful APX25 and RPX25 negs from the Grampians to print now (colour, 4x5, and 8x10 are still pending in the fridge).

not sure if Toadman was serious... but I go by the theory that since you pay for postage both ways, it doesn't really matter who joins in if you're happy wth that aspect. walbergb gets in due to this, past involvement and his Commonwealth connections... his Queen is our Queen! (I think)
