Got my prints, and what a brilliant collection of images! Thanks to all who participated. I'll wait a few days before I give comment.
 
The shipping costs from Australia to The Netherlands are Euro 12.29 (= 16.50 AUD) so that isn't too bad for shipping costs at all.
Can't wait to receive your prints. I've got several feet of blank walls in my newly (not yet finished) darkroom to hang these prints on. I'll let you know when the prints arrived and I will comment on each.

I hope you all will like my print as well and I hope I may participate again in this exchange. Any comments and feedback on my print is welcome. I see these exchanges always as a great opportunity to improve my photography.

I wish I had some spare wall space in my dark room. But with all the shelving and notes there's not much left in my 3x3m room. I plan to take a picture before and after the dismantling of it. Now I am getting sad again...

Meanwhile, my internets has been down all yesterday and I was out chasing the Tour today. So I'll have to come pick up those prints sometime on the weekend or something to get my share...
 
Got mine today, some serious variation in techniques.. I'm going to have to pick up some glossy paper based on a few shots I received. Thanks everyone for your efforts!
 
Ok so I need glossy fabric to win over everyone but for Marc.
 
Don't blame me, I only used gloss because I got a pack cheap at a garage sale, the weirdo size fit the neg, and I was out of my usual RC pearl... :whistling:
 
Hi Guys,

For those of you who have your prints, I hope you are enjoying them! For those of you who have yet to see them, hopefully they are not too far away.

I just discovered that on the sheet I included for my photo, I put the wrong developer down for the film. Instead of D76, I used Rodinal (or Adonal, to be correct) @ the dilution of 1:50 for 24 minutes. Sorry for the mistake!

My set of prints haven't arrived yet in The Netherlands and it might take another week. I'm in bed for 3 days now with a devious flew. So I wouldn't mind looking at some fine photographs as a medicine :sad:

I was wondering what is the best way to comment on the photographs in this exchange? In this thread after everyone received his set? Or by PM?

Bert how you comment is really up to you. I often post via PM when I know others have not received their prints. But I sometimes post (as do others) a longer critique in the thread.

Thanks again to Hoffy for doing this. As usual it's interesting to see the range of work submitted. I think it would be silly to try and comment on everything so will just mention a few things that caught my notice. First is that warm tone seems very popular, whether in the paper choice or post toning. Also interesting to see how much large format work there was - two 8x10s and several 4x5s. Only one colour print, which shows the difficulty of printing colour these days but also how beautiful it can be. A very nice print by Andrew K who always has something good. I really like munz6869's print - I've noticed from his past submissions that he knows how to get the best out of 4x5 with prints that show a wide range of tonality and detail. I'll also mention Oxleyroad for his amazing Van Dyke Brown print on linen. I think that was the first one I encountered on opening the parcel, perhaps Hoffy packed them that way on purpose. It would still be impressive if it was on the bottom of the pile - great work.
Good to see the print exchange rolling along and hopefully it wasn't too much of a headache for Hoffy and he'll want to organise it again.
 
Happy to report that my set of prints arrived today:D I see that Hoffy included a copy of mine. It must have been really bad that no one wanted it:confused: I say that tongue in cheek because when I saw my print, I gasped. The toning looked horrible. I find that more often than not, I have to look at a print a day or two later to really evaluate it fully and decide if any changes are necessary. I didn't do that in this case. But there is an upside:smile:

After sending away my prints, I made some step wedges (for future reference; something I've been meaning to do) varying the time in the bleach (1% working solution) and the thiourea/sodium hydroxide ratios. I got very poor results. I suspected the toner, so I made fresh toner. Same results. I had assumed that the potassium ferricyanide bleach would last forever. After consulting the experts at APUG, I realized my assumption was incorrect. Just yesterday, I repeated the experiment with all fresh chemicals, and I got much better results. I saved some of the old bleach and bleached a separate wedge to compare it to the fresh bleach. Conclusion: the old bleach was nearly expired and had little effect on the step wedge. And that was the bleach I used for my contribution to the exchange:sad: I'm saving a set of step wedges bleached in fresh bleach for future reference. I'm hoping that I will be able to narrow down the life of ferri bleach and avoid using expired bleach. In the near future, I will try to redo that print with fresh chemicals.

This photography stuff is interesting and challenging, but I still have a lot to learn! I'm off to Cuba until the 9th, so I'll spend more time viewing your prints when I get back. We (yes, my wife is going with me) will be stuck on an island (Cayo Coco), so I'm not anticipating scores of photographic opportunities. I will take my Nikon F, a 35-105 zoom, and a 28mm wide angle lens. I might try to hitch a ride into a nearby pueblo (town) to experience more of the Cuban way of life. BTW, this is our second trip to Cuba; the first was in March, 2012.

I'm not sure if all others received their set yet, so I won't comment on each print here and now. But I just wanted to say that I'm very impressed with the contribution of Oxleyroad. It involves a Nikon F5, Caffenol and VanDykeBrown. All three one of my favorites and now combined in one.

I'll have an extended look at all the prints today and will read all the comments. This is an excellent exchange and will certainly join the next round.

Do we get a signal when everyone received his set and we can start posting comments here?

Greetings all,

Its been a few months since Rd 11 finished - this is partly by design, partly by me being a bit slack......

Anyhow, it looks like we could get back into the same schedule as the previous rounds if we start one now, I.E., accept nominations up to the end of June, prints to be delivered to me by the 31st of August. If we stick to this schedule (& roll on from Rd 12 to Rd 13), this means that we won't have the situation where we are printing during December. (Rd 13 would require prints to be done by 30 November).

If I get some interest, I'll get the signup thread going for Rd 12.
