I see a bit of a negative reaction to my frontier prints in this thread. If I have offended any of you by doing this please accept my apologies and feel free to ignore my print...

Not remotely offended. I have friends who shoot film and print digitally and I'm proud to have traded prints with them. It is about the image.

I think some of you are missing the point here. I don't have an issue with electronically scanned colour film, then from those scans, colour prints are then made on a professional system using a lab with conventional colour paper that is electronically exposed, then processed in RA4.

Conventional colour printing is quite hard to do, due mainly to the lack of availability of chemicals in many countries. I have been colour printing in my own darkroom for 19 out of the last 22 years, prior to that I did it in a commercial colour lab, including conventional mural colour with 6' high by 18' wide single colour prints, so I do have an idea of the easy and not so easy fun of analogue colour printing.

If someone wishes to discuss electronically scanning a B&W or colour negative, then wishes to inkjet that to paper in their home, then that is what the sister site Hybridphoto.com is for, or a squillion other sites.

I too, have a long history of embracing new technology, including working with some of the first electronic scanning systems in the world, decades ago, in another life in the graphic arts industry. I'm talking scanning machines that cost a million dollars a pop for each unit. They were the size of a truck and were in sanitised clean air rooms.

I also enjoy electronically produced images, some of them are mouth watering in their brilliance, but this site is about analogue photographic technique and materials, kapisch?

Mick.

Geese this thread has become very toxic, get over it. Life is to short to argue

hey guys, just a quick update, I'm missing 3 sets of prints, and I've PM'd those who haven't submitted.

TK

I have been a little anxious that mine might not have made it down, but since I haven't gotten a message, I guess I can breathe a sigh of relief!

How're you feeling Tim, getting better I hope?

Hmmm, I can't see any toxins or any arguments? Are you ordering Mick to "get over it"? If so, I don't think he'd mind if you addressed your concerns to him by name. I don't think the heat in your reaction is helping to be honest.

If there is any offence being taken it's probably not about the prints. It's just because we let the Kiwis in on this
Looking forward to seeing all the prints so would the laggards please get a wriggle on!

Tony

How rude doesn't your bridge need painting ?

Well, I see the 'deadline' has come and gone over two weeks ago... I gather that Tim is still waiting for two or three people.
My exams finished yesterday so I am now available to contribute a print if any of the laggards wants to pull out. I could do it this weekend and have it in Tim's hands by Tuesday.
Let me know!
Cheers
Ian

Yeah, come on you slow-pokes, I've got half a dozen empty frames and a whole lot of wall space I don't feel like filling myself at the moment

Help the economy Steve, and buy me stuff!
Specifically heaps of Ilfochromes. I'll be having a "Fire Sale" to get rid of the golden oldies here (ah, talking about the older ilfochromes! :whistling: ). Guaranteed to brighten up any dull living space (so long as you've got the requisite spotlights that all Ilfochromes beg for...).

What's the website, Gary?

http://tinyurl.com/silent-street
( South wall gallery of representative landscape/scenic chromes )
http://flickr.com/silentstreet (scanned-ex film and also majority digis).
Only a very small number there (those that I have reproduced and sold the most of).
Haven't got any pinhole images on the site; that is a task I want to do soon, plus put up another 230 or so trannies shot on Velvia 50/100F. Hmm. When Shane has his back turned and his front door unlocked I'll nick his Epson V700,LOL  ! Until then it's just sitting on my shopping list!

+1 to that - I'd be interested in seeing some of these Ilfochromes

Plenty of New Zealand beauties stashed away! Two take pride of place on my south wall gallery (Matai Falls/Catlins and Morning at Lake Mathieson with Southern Alps). See, I don't forget to tempt my Kiwi friends!

Still here guys, and still missing 2 sets of prints, we'll have to be patient, we had same thing last time (it took a month after the cutoff date to get the exchange out, that seems to be the norm).
