I tripped over this website today: Wet Plate Supplies

I have no connection with them, and I have not bought anything from them (yet), but they appear to hold a wide range of chemicals and equipment for alternative processes, with a special focus on wet plate, and they also carry more commonly used chemicals such as Metol & HQ as well as alkalis and whatnot.

They don't seem to have been going very long, but it's nice to have an alternative specialist supplier in the UK for all those things that are becoming a bit more tricky to find. Their prices seem reasonably competitive too.

Might give 'em a go when I next need some bits and bobs.

Sounds and look good for chemicals while the other bits and pieces seem to be "coming along" as in growing. Assuming the owners have done their homework and are sure there is a market out there big enough to keep the business going then this is very good news

Thanks for the link

I think the wet plate supplies is a sideline to his main business, which is about the only way to survive in a niche market. I've purchased one item from him at the beginning of the year, and had no problems.

Just an update, as I finally got round to ordering a batch of chemicals from this outfit.

Ordering process was quick and easy, delivery cost not excessive and despatch/delivery very timely.

The packaging of all the chems is excellent - it looks very like Sigma labelling, which is reassuring, and the reducing agents are supplied in "proper" dark brown glass.

I've previously used Silverprint for all my raw chemicals, but they don't carry one thing I wanted and Wetplate do.

Plus the fact that the cost from Wetplate Supplies for everything I wanted was less than what Silverprint would have charged for only part of what I wanted.

This isn't to knock Silverprint, but just to say that there is now an alternative for buying specialist photochemical supplies, and that's not a bad thing at all.
