ADOX is presenting COLOR MISSION - an ISO 200 color negative film with a purpose at the core.

We are setting up a big film R&D project, which needs a lot (A LOT) of investment. So we decided to do a kind of a reverse Kickstarter, releasing a product immediately. This is helping the community in relieving the current color film shortages, as well as moving ADOX towards our research goals. Color Mission is a unique film stock, co-researched with and coated for ADOX a few years ago.

Fotoimpex starting Thursday February 10th, and is available for pre-order here: https://www.fotoimpex.com/films/adox-color-mission-200.html
We thank you so much for your trust and support, as well as for your work for the analog community.

Good to see this, though shipping cost and issues from Fotoimpex to USA are still there. Will it appear at Freestyle within a reasonable time?

Congratulations! I hardly shoot 135 so I doubt if I will ever buy it. Maybe one roll or so to try.
Can't you do such a thing with CHS in120? Coat it yourself and certain company from a neightbouring country toll-confect it, thus giving extra money to invest in the 120 machines.

Interesting color pallet! I hope you can reformulate it again on the new coating line.
Will order a couple of rolls.

Looks interesting but the shipping from Europe kills it. I'll buy a roll or three when it's available in the US.

This is a turning point in the history of photography industry. Finally, the Kodak-Fuji duopolio is broken.

Fantastic news, time to open up the champagne!!

From one of the links, in case you haven't read, some key data. Emphasis (bold) mine.

"We have already reached this point once, in cooperation with another company. However, that facility went bankrupt, leaving us only with the first batch of color material. Now, ADOX is ready to start R&D again – this time, fully independently."

"We have a team of trained chemists, a running emulsion production department, and we are building a coating machine in Bad Saarow, Germany along with running a coating machine in Switzerland"

"ADOX is releasing Color Mission – those films coated a few years ago, kept in the cool house until this moment"

HOW SOON IS ADOX GOING TO MAKE A NEW FILM ?
We are being realistic and not promising to deliver a product next year – in four years, perhaps. What we can promise, is staying committed to this goal. (...)
According to our sales expectations, the supply will last long enough to bridge the time until the new film comes, and possibly a bit longer.

So, it appears that in practice we have a new, independent color film with a supply good for a full four (4) years and then the new improved Adox color film will come.

I hope ADOX will have enough tailwind to establish a robust colorfilm business, but the whole wording around this particular film sounds like something that wasn't ready for prime time, but is put out anyway to cut losses.
In the light of all the sub-standard film sold by the endless number of "experimental" brands, I guess it doesn't seem as bad as it could, especially if the profits really go towards production of quality film.

This is good news! I'm not the biggest color film user around, but this news makes me happy!
Will definitely try a roll or two and see where it takes me!

.

To cut losses from what? It sounds like a new film kept in cold storage and now launched to signal that ADOX intend to get into C41 production for the long term and help fund the now film project

It isn't particularly cheap but neither is it extortionate and here comes a guess on my part: ADOX has now decided that new colour film has reached a price that makes sale of this cold stored film worthwhile to help fund its new C41 film

I didn't see anything that makes me think the new film to be launched in 4 years will necessarily be exactly like the Mission 200 that is about to go on sale and certainly any assumption that it may be like the former Agfa Vista film may well be misplaced, nice as that was and one that I have missed since discovering it almost by accident about 2004 when I discovered that I had forgotten to bring my usual Fuji film on a visit to a safari park and Agfa Vista was the only film available at that safari park

So far ADOX has been both completely honest and realistic in its marketing and objectives so I see every reason to believe it means what it says here

I hope this is a good thing. If Adox can funnel some money into any film coating and confection operations, afford technical staff. Thinking about the possibilities of the former Ciba/Ilford now Adox site, imagination runs wild.

The era of dirt cheap film is over, overcapacity is (hopefully) over. I appreciate the openess of Adox. I look forward to trying this and other Adox products. I appreciate Silvergrain Classics too, I've been a subscriber since the first issue.
