One thing led to another…
A new design hatched while I was making a 125mm 2.3 Wollaston for a customers 80x80mm Horseman 45FA lensboard…
I thought... those with short bellows 4x5’s could use a short soft focus lens too…
Soooo~, On the showroom floor; ladies and gentlemen; I present…
… A New 100mm f:1.8 Wollaston Meniscus Soft Focus Lens …

With a bright, crisp image on the ground glass it’s a great fit for 4x5 “press” cameras (Speed Graphic, Linhof, B&J, Horseman, etc).
Cameras with minimal lens draw such as: sliding box, tailboard, and plate cameras are also candidates for this lens.
See the photos showing soft focus variations at 3 different f:stops: f:2.4, f:3.3, & f:6.7
All were taken with the Tachihara, shot on paper negatives.

Some details:

The lens angle of view is 115º inclusive.
The plotted maximum image circle at infinity focus is 370mm (14.6”) diameter).
Image corners beyond about 315mm will be “interesting”…

The filter size is: 82mm.
The Lens barrel diameter is 73mm, length is 43mm, including the 85mm diameter front rim.
The black elastic band snugs against the aperture card to act as a light seal.

The lens is mounted to the lensboard via axial screws threaded into the end of the lens barrel.
Instead of a large flange the axial screws make fitting the lens onto smaller lensboards possible.
Small lensboard options include: 80x80mm Horseman, 92x94mm Speed Graphic, and 96x98mm Linhof/Technika boards.

This particular lens is on a Baltic Birch clone of a 96x98mm Technika board with a clear poly finish for the customers 4x5 Intrepid camera.
If you’d like a lens with a satin black board for your Speed Graphic email me at: re.inventedphoto@gmail.com ~
Each lens is supplied with it’s attached lensboard, 5 aperture cards, a lens cap, a cleaning cloth, and copious documentation.
~ $169.00 + shipping ~

Hi John,
I've chased that 1mm difference (96x99 -vs-96x98) in "Technika" boards for years, only to discover that it makes no difference in useability. I've handled lots of authentic & mass produced "Technika" boards over the years. They all work.
In a simple answer... Yes it will fit any camera that claims to use a Linhof/Technica lensboard.
