Something very fishy about this sale thread. I was the first above stating that I would take both lots of the 400 VC. I followed up with a PM. OP responded saying that they were both gone, but that there may be additional items for sale later on. Then, the immediate post above states that the remaining items have been reduced, including some of the 400 VC that I had already tried to get. Doesn’t make any sense to me. Nor is the seller responding to my follow-up PM requesting clarification.

Nothing fishy about this listing. I just received what I bought and it was exactly as described.

Just curious about how these things work in the Photrio "for sale" section. If some of the film has already been sold at the time of the first post which announces the sale does this mean that others on Photrio already knew about the sale before the post appeared and if so why bother to advertise items that already have a "sold" sign against them?

Thanks

You misunderstand.
Unlike most threads, in the Classified section paid subscribers who start new sale threads (the only ones who can) also have the ability to edit and update their earlier posts.
As a result, the OP here had the ability to add the SOLD flag to each item in the listing as items are sold.

I saw the ad when it was 5 minutes old and sent a PM. I think I was the first to contact him. The OP edited the original post with SOLD indicators only after I sent payment, which seems reasonable. I'm sure potential buyers failing to complete transactions is not too uncommon.

Thanks Matt. Yes clearly I failed to grasp how it works, hence my questions. I was thrown by the fact that it is the original post that gets altered and the seller does not add a post each time an item is sold. Had I spotted it within seconds of it being posted I would have seen that none were sold then and realised that any sold signs meant that that particular item has been sold

On another forum it is practice for the buyers to indicate interest in a particular item as well as just an interest and the seller to respond with a reply that item X etc is sold. This gives a form of running commentary on the race as it happens

It would look as if the poster Duceman may not have grasped the way it works either based his questions He was looking for clarification. I hope that he now has this.

When I sell stuff I usually make a point of both updating the listing and adding a post saying that the listing has been updated to reflect that some items have been sold.
But there isn't a rule saying you have to do that.
