a little carbon and KBr

i have an olde wood mortar and pestle. i don't remember when
but at some point i must have crushed some carbonchunks with it to do something.
now, i have some KBr i want to crush before i mix it into a solution but my crushers have some carbon
on them still. will a little carbon do much harm ? im guessing it might but who knows maybe
it will do absolutely nothing.

A bit of steel wool will probably dislodge any carbon sticking to the mortar.

This carbon thing reminds me of cloudy fixer, and the consensus here appears to be that regardless of how you filter (at least with amateur means), there will always be some particles left. These particles can settle in your emulsion, and unlike with Sulfur, there is no good way to dissolve carbon particles.

As Michael already stated, there is no reason to crush the caked KBr, as it dissolves easily and quickly as it is. You could create a KBr concentrate solution, if the KBr junks have grown too big. AFAIK KBr solution lasts for a long time.

i like to crush the rocks cause they dissolve better.
i think last time i crushed with a glass jar cause i couldn't find my P+M.
it alway sseems to take forever for the rocks to melt...
