For those interested we broke 700 registrations this month, that is over 100 more than last month. We've just had two of our biggest months to date. It is very exciting to see so much interest in our craft. Thanks to all involved in making APUG a great place to be!

cool...

is this stuff the forum software gives you, or you remember as you have a natural interest in it ?

... or perhaps even you code your own scripts to pull these stats from the database ?

Nick, I think most website software has a 'Stats' section where site owners can keep track of the various aspects of site usage. I belong to another website where this information is available for all to view as bar graphs through a 'More Stats' link. Stats such as Top Ten Posters, Registrations Per Day, Top Ten Threads (by posts), Top Ten Threads (by views), Top Ten Thread Starters etc. etc. Personally I think they are a bad thing to have on public view because it can get silly if people decide to compete.

Congrats on the continuing success of APUG Sean!

I've seen a few forums like that ... I agree, still tho I'm interested - always been a bit of a 'watcher' - but I'll make do with APUG as is for now (; (excellent, that is)

Thanks for making this all possible. The stats are exciting and very interesing, but they wouldn't be if you hadn't made this possible.

Thank you,

A great site! No wonder it is taking off. I'm a newbie here but an "oldie" in the darkroom. Lots of intelligent people here with lots of knowledge. I could spend hours in the galleries....

Well Done From ILFORD / HARMAN + A Little Idea

Dear Sean,

This has been a very interesting few months for me since joining APUG and I have to say I am looking forward to the conference very much, and delighted to see how APUG is growing.

I was actually not that amazed that the postcard thread was the most replied to....you should see the ( now new and larger ) pinboard in my office and also our specialist paper finishing department has just finished three weeks manufacturing our Postcard Paper and it should be shipping around the World and in the stores in a few weeks....

So by way of a 'thank you' to all, if its OK with you, I will meet up with you in Toronto and decide on a prize and ILFORD Photo / HARMAN technology Limited will sponsor a competition for APUGgers and postcards in summer 2006, I quite like the idea of a prize of paying travel and expenses for an Apugger to visit the next conference...perhaps its only a postcard away....?

Regards

Simon ILFORD Photo / HARMAN technology Limited :

Congratulations Sean!

And also a big thanks to the moderators and all the enthusiasts who continue to make this the most lively, congenial and interactive photography site on the web.

I have said it many times in the past and will repeat it here. I believe that without APUG the state of analog photography would be in very sorry shape indeed.

For those who have been here since the beginning few months of APUG I hope you share my amazement with how much this site has grown and become a major influence maintaining and growing traditional photography.

For those who are relatively new, welcome and thanks for sharing your passion for traditional photography no matter how long you have been exposing film. I believe that we have only scratched the surface of the potential of this site to enhance creativity and sharing of ideas and concepts among members around the world.

Thanks Simon, that would be great. Would color be allowed? I'm afraid my camera would break if I put B&W in it again.

I have noticed an explosion of posts to the gallery. Seems like a lot more images going up each day.

Together with this, though, the number of views for an average image seems to be a little lower. I think this is due to the fact that with more images, the average time an image is on the sidebar or general view of the gallery is much lower.

Matt

I should add, it looks like the very interesting images still get 100-200 views.

--added as edit:

I checked through the galleries, and my impression is that the number of views is about the same as before.

Simon! How sweet! :D See... this is one of the many reasons I'm such a big Ilford fan (great products aside).

Congrats on this site, Sean. I know that it has changed my photographic life in more ways than I can count! Thanks to all my fellow APUGgers for that!

Also, the moderators are doing a fantastic job I really could not ask for more. The APUG conference planners have gone so far beyond the call of duty it's hard to comprehend. It's a real team effort around here wether it's day to day running of the site or members making positive contributions to the forums and galleries.

I'll start laying out the film depots across Hardangervidda as soon as the snow melts :D

Sean, A real testament to the impact of APUG ... growing market share ... increasing the incentive for analog equip and film manufaturers. I do believe there will be a turn around in the market.
