At Google enter, "hypo alum" messes .

I did read some time ago that POP can be fixed and gold toned
simultainiously. A Mr. John Nicol did that for forty years according
to a report he made in 1896. Super simple formula. I wonder if
that method will work on the usual projection speed papers? Dan

I have several recipes for toning fixers, but most of them unfortunately contain either lead acetate, mercury chloride, or both...

Several recipes? Several "messes", I'd say, from reading
J. Nicol's report of 1896. I've only a passing interest in POP
as I shoot MF and would need enlarged negatives. His no
wash, simultaneous fix-and-tone process though, I'd
think of interest to those who do POP.

My interest is in applying that one step fix-and-tone to
projection speed papers. Off hand I don't see why it would
not work although my one-shot use of fixer where gold is
an ingredient could be a slow down. Dan

Most of my "recipes" are found in books published between 1910 and 1935.

I'll see what I can find when I get home in a couple of weeks
