I set up a darkroom a few months back and have a few dozen prints now that I'd like to tone. I've been using Ilford MGIV RC paper and just bought some Kodak Rapid Selenium.
I ran a few tests at 1:3 and 1:9 and think i like 1:9 for 20minutes the best. It's really the only combo that seemed to do anything with RC paper, subtle as it is.
Toning 1 print at a time for 20 minutes seems a bit too time consuming, so I've been doing 2 at a time back to back.
Q1: I'm curious how many prints I can tone in a tray at the same time. Thoughts?
Q2: As all of my prints were previously fixed and dried, i've been re-wetting them. How long or thorough of a rinse do I need after a print is toned?
Q3: given that I like 1:9 @20min, should 1:3 at 6.5ish minutes give the same results? or is the math not linear...
Q4: Am I wasting my time in general toning RC MGIV prints? I'd move to FB, but I'm weary of the water required to wash the prints.
Thanks all!
Jesse
