Also, I should add that I'm going to be shooting medium-format, slow speed, cubic-crystal film in a studio setting with lots of monolights and the ability to develop my film immediately after exposure, on-site (yes, I'm pretty lucky) ^_^

Yes! I have the second edition, though ... so some of the recommendations are outdated by a few decades >_>

IDK most of photography in the last 2 decades really hasn't changed much. i was given a copy 25 years ago, most of it seems up to date considering ...
there really haven't been too many films and papers made in the last 2o years that are any different than 25-30 years back ... except for graded paper which is hard to come by and there probably isn't a section on "scanning film" &c. have fun with the book ! btw the troubleshooting section in the back is pretty valuable showing common mistakes in developing &c.

I have his " Beyond Basic Photography" which is copyright 1977 and that makes the content 42 years old now. What is the date of the second edition of Basic Photography? Is this later? I can think of a few things that have changed on the "film and darkroom world" but it would be interesting to know what in his Basic Photography book is outdated. I ask because outdated books are really all that are available now and when considering such books it is nice to know what they either don't contain in terms of relevance or and more importantly what may now be unintentionally misleading.

Thanks
