I recently found a lens form my 10a Century Studio Camera and am trying to get all the parts I need to use it. When I bought it there was already a 5x7 reducing back on it, but I'm trying to find an 8x10 back to use the camera to it's full potential. I've keep searching ebay every few days, but the only thing I've found is another 5x7 back, which I don't need. does anyone know somewhere else I might find I wood back for the camera? It's made by Graflex corp so it should be pretty standard.
thanks

I've got the same issue except my camera has a 4x5 back. My plan is to mount a Cambo back I have to a bigger board that will fit the camera. It's not like the camera will be used with an ultra wide lens anyways.

I believe the Eastman 2D 8x10 back will fit on the Century but not vice versa. I have the cameras in separate locations, so I can't check right now. I could by morning.

If you have found another 5x7 back, you can use this as a basis to adapt an 8x10 back from another wooden view camera. Since the camera you have is a rather large studio camera, you could adapt a wooden 8x10 back from a smaller old wooden field camera. Any good woodworker could do the adaptation for you.

My 1924 Eastman Empire State 11x14 arrived at my house wearing an 8x10 reducing back. I promptly set it aside and obtained an 11x14 back through the APUG forum. Paying it forward, I will give it to you for the price of the shipping. It's cherry wood, stained an Eastman purple-red, with some screw holes in the 11x14 back plate. The 8x10 back is built into it, not screwed, so you will probably need to do some destructive acquisition to get the 8x10 back off. It has a nice ground glass with strong springs, and holds a standard (Graflex) 8x10 holder without slop or slide. The only non-standard thing about it is that there is antique black felt all around where the holder meets the back. This appears to be factory standard, but I've never seen felt here before in any back. It's usually wood on wood. I have not checked the t-distance to see if the felt plays a role in throwing the film plane out of focus. You would have to experiment with this on your own. You may message me if interested.
