Some years ago I purchased a box lot of view camera parts from an old world camera repair shop that had closed. An enquiry regarding 2D extension rail track had me retrieve this box and digging through it I found what looks like the spring shaft for a large focal plane shutter. The distance between the 2 round brass plates is 8 1/16 inch and the gear at the shaft end when turned is under spring tension. It appears to be unused and it looks like a large version of the Speed Graphic focal plane shutter spring shaft. Is this what this is and can any one use it?
