on request i made this conversion for the beseler 45 mx. it fits on the older blue model beseler 45 too.
the conversion is identical to my Durst 138s / G 139, apart from the adapter plate to the enlarger.
this link to the Durst kit has some additional information that covers Beseler as well :
https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/8x10-conversion-durst-138s-g139.171164/

again i made a few extra kits for sale.

8x10" conversion Beseler 45 :

all parts needed for the set up included !

1 x light head with 53 pcs 3 w leds
2 x led drivers 90 - 240V atatched
1 x pyramidal stub on 20mm fiber mounting plate
1 x negative holder for up to 8x10 neg with 2 x glasses (the book type)
1 x light seal to replace 8x10 filmholder
(when you use original 4x5 holder for smaller formats)
4 x screws for assembling
10 spare bulbs,
1 spare led driver
conversion is made for 240mm lens, Beseler used to supply the APO Gerogon F9 - 240mm lens.
it is 20 mm higher and slightly heavier. my beseler has no problems with lifting it

dont worry on the F9 iris, the kit has plenty of light
vertical enlargemants more than 20x24"on the board
no need for a noisy cooling fan.
all parts of lazer cut steel and stainless material,
finished in Antracit - grey non reflecting paint ( see the darkest photos for reference) and black powder paint

all you you need is a screwdriver
and 10 minutes for first time assembly
thereafter it only takes few minutes ( 4 screws !) to change back to original enlarger head if desired.
for assembling , take off the 2 metal locking sliders for the Beseler condensor head . use the same threads for the conical part. of the kit. ( it is aligned for parralell negative , so do not touch the red marked screws inside)
your Beseler 45 remain 100% original , no alteration at all!

I am loving the unit you built for me previously (before all this lockdown bother)
I am attaching some pictures that show how I am using Ilford 6x6 multi contrast filters
I added a removable seat that inserts into the slot where the negative carriers were originally meant to go
I designed cardboard sleeves for the filters that slide into the seat
And finally an I-pad picture of a print that I created using your modification from a 5x7 negative

I like the way this worked so much, I am now going to try to build the seat out if a more rigid substance

Dan

hi grahamp
you are right, using the spacers makes room for full 20x24" on the baseboard.
another thing is that the spacers are needed for the kit to pass the to of the x frame of the enlarger.

hello Dan
great that you are happy with the kit.
Another user wish to have a solution on OVER the negative VC filters.
and you have asked about the same earlier.
the cost of 8x10 VC filters may not be a problem !
looking to find a way and return in this fora.
your solution will work fine too. possibly i will go that way.

Hi Klaus!

These look amazing! I am really interested in your conversion kits. I am new to this forum so I can not PM you. Could you send me a message or email me a jenniferg0897@gmail.com?

I am curious if you can make this with an 110v instead of a 220v plug?

You mentioned that. this is for a 240mm lens, would a 210mm not also work?

Do you think it would be possible to wall mount this unit and/or project horizontally on the wall?

Would you sell an extra negative carrier and do you happen to have any plans for a glasses carrier?

Lastly, I am wondering if this is only for the Beseler 45 mxt or if it would also work on a Beseler v-xl?

Thank you!

Jennifer

hi jennifer,
i have sent a mail to you:

yes i have transformers that work on 110 V
yes 210mm lens will work, but as said the sweet pick is 240 mm ( i have some 240 mm extra lenses that fits the beseler)
yes you can wall mount, but i use 2 connecting rods attached between the topframe and the wall.
yes horizontal enlargements is easy, i have the bracket that you need.
yes i have extra film holders of the book and double glass type.
i do not know if it works on v-xl model, i am told by another user that it might ?

I know on the original Beseler conversion kits, they were different between the MXT vs VXL on the mount extension. Due to the difference in the straight vs angled chassis.

Hi Klaus! This looks amazing! Wondering if you have any more built for the 45MXT?

Like Jennifer (above), I'm in the States and would need essentially the same setup. Also curious about the 240mm lens. Please let me know.

Thanks!!!

NEW 8x10 KITS AVAILABLE

i am well over shipping out the 8x10 kits on the waiting list, and have had time to make some extra kits
ready for shipping
.
due to the current situation worldwide, unfortunately the price on materials has gone up by app. 20 % and i have to raise the price to 540 euro plus shipping.
i hope that the prices will normalize for the next batch i make , probably next year.

another thing is that i cannot guarantee for the glasses in the film holder, they tend to break in the handling / abuse of parcels in transit.
the come separetly but you get a tube of glue to fix it.
i am now using a special LED diffuser that gives you 1/2 stop extra in exposure time.
kindly

Klaus,
Happy new year to you!
Pleased to hear you will be building some of these units again. If you could place me on a waiting list for a kit for a Beseler 45VX-L that would be appreciated.

regards
Phil
