Just trying to figure out my best strategy here...

I am down to about 10 boxes of the 7x11 Classic films, as these are not currently available I am wondering about the minimum order that Ilford has extablished for the next production run of this format. Does anyone have the magic number?

Perhaps those who plan on participating in the Ilford 7x11 order could post their anticipated needs so we can figure out if we have the required volume necessary for production of either FP4 or HP5... or both.

I have not used Ilford in ULF and I notice that 11x14 HP5 is not available on the product list posted... is this not a special order item? If so then I imagine I could cut down my own HP5 and order approximately 10 boxes of the FP4 if it appears that we will make the quota... if not I guess it is best to order 11x14 to ensure my supply.

Also wondering what else is available in 11x14 B&W.

Cheers & thanks... Annie

Ilford HP5 in 11x14 is a stock size, so no need for custom cutting. Freestyle lists seven different choicess for 11x14 b/w film, including a couple of Efke, which would be similar to Classic Films.

7x11 is listed in both FP4+ and HP5+. I'm planning to order half a dozen boxes of FP4+. There was (there was a url link here which no longer exists) for 7x11 last week. That's three of us...

down the road a little bit photowarehouse will be getting master rolls of film again ( asa 125 + 400 ) to cut for film holders. they used re-sell ilford-esque film, but are getting a new batch from a new maker ...
i recently wrote to find out if it was still the plan or if they weren't going through with it .. and was told it was still going to happen ...

good luck!
john

ps. if you call/ email? them you can be notified when the master rolls arrive and the film will be ready to buy ...

Since 7x11 is exactly 1/2 of an 11x14 sheet, if you become desparate, it would be easy to cut down 11x14 sheet film in the darkroom. It is just one cut. And several manufacturers still make 11x14 for stock. It might even be cheaper than a custom order.

It is indeed good news about the master roll I will contact them... I wonder who is the actual manufacturer... is there a secret word you whisper to get the name... I try to avoid testing whenever possible.

I am pleased to see there are still some fine options for my format I have been cutting to 'unique' formats for a time now so that is not a problem. So for me the FP4 would be the Ilford film of interest as the HP5 is stock.

Thanks again... Annie.

I have used 7 x 11 in larger format cameras and like the ratio...however I have not seen a 7 x 11 camera. I suppose they are out there?

7x11 Cameras

Dave,

Yes - 7x11 cameras are out there. Both Korona and Kodak (2 and 2d) are what I am aware of.

A Kodak: http://www.fiberq.com/cam/ekc/2d.htm

I use a Korona - but I do not have a picture of it handy.

Holders were made by Eastman.

You are right it is a wonderful format...

Steve
