75mm Nikkor Enlarging lens...any good?

For a cammed Omega D3---I'm not sure if all the Nikkor 75mm lenses are 4 element. Did Nikon make a 6 element in the 75mm focal length. If so, how can one tell which is which from a picture?

Rodagons and Componons seem harder to find in the 75mm length, but I see a lot of inexpensive Nikkors, thats why I ask.

As far as I know, 80mm version is 6 element but 75mm is always 4 element....

I've got a 75mm Nikor that I use all the time with great results. I've used many enlarging lenses in my life from Omegas, Schneider, and Fugis. The Nikor is as good as any, and I got it on thr cheap off "the bay".

The enlarger already has a 3 element Rogonar 75mm and the other lens on the enlarger is a 135mm Componon (which will enlarge 6x6 negatives up to 11x11" according to the owner).. So we need a 75mm for making 16x16s. So, the Apo-Rodagon-D 75mm (1:1 lens) is not applicable.

I think the way to go will be a Fujinon EP or EX 75mm (both 6 element).

Anyone know of other high-end 75mm lenses?

The only 75mm or 80mm f 2.8 enlarging lens I know of is the Meopta Meogon.

I just picked up a New in box Koumaron S 75mm on ebay. If I had not researched these lenses for my friend, I would not have known of this lens. $25 and no one else bid on it.

My friend wound up getting a FUJINON EP 75mm 5.6 to go with the 75mm focus track on his D3. I'll be keeping the Koumaron-S for myself. If I get around to it I have a Componon 80mm 5.6 and a new Componon-S 80mm f4 for comparison.

I have the 75 f5.6 Fujinon EP and the 80 f5.6 Nikkor here (and the 75 f4 Nikkor also). Both are outstanding lenses, even at full aperture. The Nikkor has a bit better contrast, but a multicoated Fujinon EX will likely have more contrast than than the EP I have (on loan to me).

My 80 f5.6 Nikkor has a notable amount of dust (or fungus) in it. I haven't been able to get that lens apart for cleaning, but it performed so well that I bought another one NOS a few weeks ago. I was afraid my first one was a fluke, but this one is as good (but no better, the internal dirt seems to make no difference).

As everyone has already stated, the 75 f4 is a fine 4 element lens, but with the bargain prices on great lenses ... My 75 is the older model, but I don't think the newer version is going to change the relative rankings at all.

It is wonderful having such great optics available at the current prices The flip side is that I need to sell off some of my excess someday, but it is hardly worth the effort.

The OP is really looking for a 75 mm lens because he has an Omega D3 autofocus enlarger. The autofocus works because the profile of the focusing cam matches the focal length of the lens. If the lens and the cam don't match, the autofocus doesn't work.

I got sidetracked by the later discussion.

The Fuji 75mm EP is a truly outstanding lens and the EX should be even a little better. It is hard to imagine needing more performance than they deliver. The 75 Nikkor is okay but not a real contender in that race. I've been seeing a few Fujis go for decent prices lately in the auctions.
