I just received a beautiful Fujinon W 210mm. The filter size is 70mm and I'm having the darndest time finding a UV (or any other) filter that fits. Am I missing something?

Sometimes makers decide on an unusual filter size, mainly in very large sizes like 105mm.
70 would be an oddball between 67 & 72 which are standard sizes on either side of the 70.
Are you using a caliper?

Yep, I'm getting 70mm from a caliper and it's also marked on the cap. I put a 72mm on to double check and it's definitely too big. The funny thing is I checked Lee, Cokin and B&W and none of them list a 70mm in their specs.
