I have the Pentax 6x7 with a 90 f2.8 LS lens. I haven't used that feature in a long time but remember you have to cock the shutter with it on "U" to function properly. There's also a cable release socket you screw the cable release into. It doesn't work. With the U/S lever set to U and shutter cocked the cable release should trip the lens but it doesn't. Have a missed something here? What's that socket for anyway? The 165 f4 LS lens doesn't have one.

From what I gather the cable release socket is mostly for multiple exposures with the "S" showing. Apparently, although I had forgotten over time, the way I used the LS lens was in conjunction with the camera's shutter with the shutter speed dial set to 1/8th second and the lens speed at 125 or 250. That was for studio and weddings. I couldn't recall if I ever used the lens itself to screw in the cable release...obviously I didn't. Thanks for that info. I must have either a different manual or just overlooked it before.
