I can't give you much of an advice on the wide lenses, but if I were you, I'd stick with the safer bets, i.e. the 150SW or 121SA, rather than the Metrogon. Wide angles have, as has been said in earlier posts, come a long way since the 30s. The less wide you go, the less trouble you may have with fall-off due to the cos^4.

As for films, if you're doing 120 - if you can stand the look of the t-grain films, Tmax 100 has good reciprocity failure characteristics compared to the older style films such as Pan-F and it's really fine grained. It works well in Tmax RS and D76. I only have experience with T-max, but another good choice from a reprocity failure stand-point could be Fuji Acros, which works up to 120 seconds without any reciprocity failure, according to Fujis own literature. Acros is also a T-grain film. Both of these films are available in 8x10 size.

Hope this helps a bit.

i just got a metrogon and 150mm SW

I decided to get both lenses to see the difference myself. I may also try to pick up a 121mm SA because if it covers wide open like Ole thinks it may that would be awesome. Doesa nyone have any experience with the 120mm f6,8 angulon. I really like my 90mm and thought that maybe the 120 angulon may also cover more than it is rated at. Any body have any hands on experience with this lens?

i guess the 120mm angulon only covers 220mm

I still may be interested in it for other applications, it is curiously small and the 90mm is so much better than i thought it would be.

The B&L Metrogons I have had are soft wide open. Let us know what yours is like. Mine was mounted by Grimes years ago so I doubt the spacing is off and I've read others saying the same thing. It may be that the full glass of the metrogon is actually bigger than f6.3 and more like f5.6. I'de have to measure it to be sure but I've always used f8 to focus mine. If you look @ glennview's site he gives a similar desription of the 305mm AO metrogon wide open soft, sharp as a tack stopped down a bit.

I've used one, but haven't tried "stretching" the coverage. At present I use 90, 165 and 210mm Angulons, and they all seem to be able to stretch to within "dark muddy corners" of the "next size up" - 90mm to 13x18cm (5x7"), 120mm perhaps to 18x24cm (bit less than 8x10"), 165mm to 24x30cm (9.5x12") and 210mm to 30x40cm (12x16").

I haven't actually tried the 165mm on the 24x30cm, but I'll try to get it done next week when I'm home again. Unfortunately 120mm is the only Angulon I don't have (well, I don't have a 65mm either).
