48 mm filter diameter?

Hey, just a simple question: I recently obtained a box of filters and flash attachments and found several 48 mm filters and a hood. Which system would these be for? I have been searching with no luck so far. Thanks!

Canon QL 111G rangefinder, well the lens hood may or may not block the rangefinder and view finder windows.

As mentioned, for some reason Canon used it quite a bit. That seems odd, but I've always thought that 49mm and 52mm were odd. Why not 50mm?

Canon also used a unique filter diameter for their 50mm ƒ/1.8 LTM lens (the black mid-1960s version): 40mm. They could have easily used 40.5mm, common on many German and Soviet lenses. Could it have been to sell 40mm and 48mm filters?

The 50mm f/1.8 Canon FL lenses take 48mm filters. I have some Canon close-up lenses in that size.

The Canon Canonet QL17 and QL19 rangefinder small body versions with 40mm lens - these are the ones with the 40mm f/1.7 or f/1.9 lens. There is the G-III version Paul mentioned, but also an earlier version not labeled "G-III" that still has the 40mm lens and small body. The earlier series of Canonets has a larger body and 45mm lens and take larger filters.

If you use a 48mm rubber hood then it may obscure a lot of the Canonet viewfinder, but it is possible to find a metal "vented" hood in 48mm that is much less obtrusive.

Canon used the 48mm filter thread on its Dial half-frame cameras, and on some of their other half-frames used a 34mm thread -- another odd one.
