Does anyone own one or know where to look for rewievs ?

If the PS is anything like my PE, it's good. Very sharp, very clear, very low distortion (read: I can't see any) - possibly my sharpest lens in any format.

that's about right Ole! I cant fault my 40mm ps at all - other than problems with filters - 95mm thread is too large to be affordable for screw ins and I get quite bad vignetting from my lee filter holder. the glass itself is superb. I have some pics in the standard gallery taken with mine at the moment.

I have the 40S and if the PS is anything like it, you will have no problems. BTW, I put a rubber band around the lens barrel, place a Cokin P filter inside the lens hood and loop the rubber band around opposite corners. This holds it in place. I prefer not to use the plastic filters but this is the only way I've found to use a filter on this lens. (%mm filters are impossible.

For you guys having difficulty with filters for large lenses, one thing I did was get lucky on Ebay a couple of years ago and found a complete set of Kodak Wratten series filters, they are actually 6 inches x 6 inches and there is about 24 filters in the pack of various styles and colors, but once I compose my shot, I just take the filter gel out and hold in front of the lens for the exposure, now if it is windy or rainy, it won't work as the gel is thin enough to be affected by the elements, but on those calm days it works just fine, you just have to make sure it is flat when your holding it front of the lens..

Works for me, could be a solution to the filter problem for some.

The bellows hood for the ETR takes 3"x3" filters and is often pretty reasonable used. I wonder if a similar hood is out there for the SQ line. If it takes 4" filters then wouldn't that be all you need?

The PE takes a 62mm filter, so I've equipped it with a WA Lee adapter. The PS is something different...

The 40S has a built in hood, not sure about the 40PS. This prevents adding an aux. hood system. I have the pro hood for the other S lenses, 50mm thru 250mm, which are all 67mm filter thread. It takes 3"x3" filters.

That screws that idea. Is it a petal hood to? Would that make holding a filter in front impossible?

I have the 50mm PS. It takes the 67mm filters, which is why I got it instead of the 40mm. It is incredibly sharp. I have 2 Heliopan 95mm filters left from the sale of a 50mm PG lens. PM if interested.

Wauw, You guys have been busy.
I thought about the 50mm but in 35mm I'm using 20mm and 24mm. My 28mm f/2.8 AIS is used only for closeups and I fell it's not wide enough so I think the 40mm S or PS will be the right choice for me in MF.

The 50mm PS takes 77mm filters, the 50mm S takes 67mm...

Yes, the hood on the 40S is a petal hood. The Cokin P filters fit just inside the hood. You can hand hold them, I've done it until I got my finger in the picture. That's when I came up with the rubber band trick. Think of it as a low tech filter holder. It really works.

Hi--

For filters with the 95mm--

I got a hold of a pro type filter holder attachment ring--like a step ring but has a flat front section with no threads. On this I can use tabs of poster putty and stick a filter onto it.
